Man I hope Whitmer has a good year. Reading the ESPN article what jumps out at me is the coach's statement, "Has he learned from those decisions he made in the past?" I saw him make some of the same mistakes a few times last year. lets hope that changes.

I hope another change is some actual blocking so that he doesn't take another beating.

Yeah, he's an intelligent guy, and hopefully these things will mature together to help him out - oline, use of skill players

And maybe they don't put him at WR like a sitting duck one play after taking a vicious hit.

Absolutely. But part of being a good QB is knowing when not to make a bad situation worse and throw a bad ball when it would be better to just take a sack.

One week after getting a concussion too.

Idiots. Someone should have been fired for that.

That sequence of events was really shocking. I would like to see more common sense used in the future by those in charge. Thankfully the conductor has been demoted from that band. Should have been fired though.

That was really the absolute low point in Connecticut football post 2003.

Maybe Chandler is already reaping the benefits of better coaching.

"Pasqualoni on the quarterbacks: "The entire group today, I thought that they looked pretty good. I thought they were right on top of it. I think they're more comfortable. I know Chandler [Whitmer] is much more comfortable than he was last year at this time. There's a process you go through and he's working his way, I think well through that process."

Pasqualoni also hopes that Whitmer can recover from concussions faster.

Agreed. Blocking will be a difference maker.

The difference maker will be him making better decisions. Blocking helps, buy if you make the wrong read, or throw into triple coverage that is on the qb.

That, and the sideline pass in 4th Q at Vandy. I wanted to throw up after that one.

though I'd rather be 1st and 10 after 2 runs...

Didn't you know that the goal is to accumulate 3rd downs? The conversion rate is worth points on the scoreboard.

“...I think there was an emphasis to run the ball, allright, in this specific case. The other emphasis we have to understand is, we’ve got to put this team and our quarterback...in manageable third down situations." - George Deleone, Sept 20, 2012

One is not exclusive of the other, many of his bad decisions came while under heavy pressure trying to make something out of nothing, better blocking may have helped tremendously. Yes he has to make better reads, a given for a first year player, but he can't be running for his life while trying to do so either, and the skill guys have to notice the pressure and cut off a route to give him some help as well. It's not all on him.

College football is a game of passing and high octane offenses. Not looking to score 17 points and hope the defense is terrific. Looking to score 30+ a game.Want people hesitant to leave their seat less they miss a quick UConn score.

Is this a post or did you go ahead and make this your signature to save time?

You're both wrong.

No way that a play with a bad outcome is worse than the decision process that puts your quarterback in serious harm's way with a ridiculous decision.

I remember sitting in the stands after Whitmer got KO'ed. I've never been more upset with a coaching staff than I was after that play. Whitmer was left out there on an island with no protection. And the play was run to his side of the field. That was coaching malpractice. And if I were Whitmer's father, I'd have given P & GDL an earful.
