I'd just love to see them come on strong this year.

Geno recommended her to the search committee for the OK coaching job in 1996. Cole was a high school coach then and she got the job. [They met when he was recruiting Stacy Hansmeyer.] http://nypost.com/2002/04/01/coale-wowed-geno-sooner-than-most/
that's not how I read it (on another site)... can someone provide facts? This is how first read it until I read differently on another site, now Im looking for the truth

I too seek the truth. Please send me a link to your "other site." I'd also be interested in your reasons for not believing the quotes of Geno from the 2002 NY Post article by Jay Greenberg [respected sportswriter since 1975].

I have heard the same story over the years about Auriemma recommending Coale for the job. I don't know the truth of it. I do know that Auriemma was influential in her career choice. LINK

As a completely sexist aside - Coale is a serious hottie at age 50! Like a fine wine, she just keeps getting better.

Are you referring to a post on Volnation that said it was Pat Summitt that recommended Sherri for the Oklahoma job? I wouldn't be surprised if both of them recommended Sherri. Pat Summitt was always generous with her help in building up WCBB, as Geno continues to be.

seems like "if it wasnt for"... the way Im reading it about Pat, maybe Im misreading. "Recommended may be the right, did Geno also recommend? if so, both suggested which is cool but it was still the Okla AD who did the hiring.

Holy Moly it's been over 20 years since Sherri Coached BAM BAM?? Over 20 years since she was calling Geno every day for advice on how to approach the Admin, just how to do. She's been among the very best for all that time with some down years, that's coaching.
A super nice lady. I'm a Sooner Fan (even if the original Sooners cheated). I loved the campus, the atmosphere and the people but mostly the Prettiest HEAD Coach in WBB!!!

If he didn't recommend Sherri Coale then it's the best lie she ever told. From my failed memory: Bam Bam played for Coale was recruited by Geno--Coale and Geno hit it off as friends while she was at Mid West HS near the AFB (?) (Sundaybreakfast ritual eat at the O club at the AFB) she asked Geno to recommend her and he did--then she called him often for advice--and he gave it. If this is wrong its a great story

Pat's memory may have been like mine at the time it was said she recommended Sherri for the job. My FAILED memory say Sherri asked Geno to recommend her. Checked with my Memory source (wife) and that's pretty close. It is possible Pat put in a final good word for Sherri--the hiring of an un tried coach rarely goes on only one recommendation (albeit no better recommendation in WBB exists).

Actually, the OK AD called Pat to see if she had any recommendations.
When he mentioned that Geno had recommended Sherri she agreed she was a worthy candidate.
In fact, her exact words were "Well, if Geno says she's good, she must be. He's a great coach and a great judge of coaching talent."

Okay, I made that third sentence up. But the first two are true.
