UConn, Purdue, Marist, & Wake Forest

Eh.

Wake had some good momentum at the end of last year, but they lost their coach (I believe).
Didnt Purdue lose some key players to graduation?

Other bracket has
South Carolina, Hampton, DePaul, and ?

Purdue's Brittany Rayburn graduated. I would call her a key player.. Marist might be a tougher opponent than Purdue.

I don't know if Marist will be the toughest, but it might be the most telling.

If the offense/defensive execution is not there, then the game could be a struggle - a nice early gauge.
OTOH, UConn may win easily if the athleticism gap is just too huge or the team is already clicking.

Drey Mingo has been granted a 6th year by the NCAA, so she'll be back for Purdue next year. Purdue is pretty good defensively but struggles to score. Losing Rayburn will not help.

I was hoping UConn would play South Carolina, but the field is what it is. It should be a fun time for the players.

The link had Wake Forest's record wrong.... they won 20 games last year... and that was a great year for them. Before their coach resigned to go to North Texas... I thought they had a good chance to finish in the top half of the ACC next year and compete for an elusive NCAA bid. Its gonna be interesting to see how they play under a new, younger coach. They dont have any players that will wow you.... but they have some good solid players... and are a scrappy bunch that will play hard for 40 minutes.
