Proud to schedule P5 teams fans can get excited about over conference affiliation

Many of UConn fans where extremely proud about the ability of scheduling so many interesting P5 teams on short notice and had little interest in ever working with UMass to gain a FB only affiliation. Has this one game changed your views or is this just a severe bump in the road. For UMass the ability to schedule Pitt, Boston College, Florida State in a season gets the recruits happy and good for the program. My personal view is that being part of a conference will still allow for a game with those type of teams, a local FCS team as Rhode Island, Maine, etc. Then you still have the conference championship to shoot for with a defined bowl affiliation lineup.

Most UMass fans, which do not view football as their favorite sport feel independence is better for scheduling and do not see any effects on recruiting.

Scheduling has been decent given our position. But, scheduling doesn’t make a program without a competent staff held to a commitment to win. Wishing to win sometime in the future is not accountability.
