Said the "swing of the game was Faris's 3".

When she hit it I thought that was the dagger. Think about if she missed and ND drove for a quick bucket off the rebound. The last couple minutes could have played out a lot differently.

Kelly's shots were the daggers, but did not swing the game. They made the end more comfortable.

The play that sealed the game...the biggest play in the game in my opinion was at the end when Tiffany dove to the floor got the ball in the corner and called a time out and gave us another 30 seconds.

That was huge and it did't score a thing. But it was huge for the win.

There were several candidates for "play that won the game", but IMO the play that broke ND's spirit was when Diggins got the defensive rebound under the rim, Kaleena comes from behind and picks "the face of wcbb's" pocket and adds insult-to-injury by finishing it off with a 10' stop & pop. The MOP outplayed and out hustled the POY.

Rep, that was a great play by Lewis. Diggins never looked comfortable in this game, mostly due
to the UConn defense.

As Geno said early this season, Lewis is more than a 3 point shooter.

It's been great to see the progression of her game.

She's playing better defense, more intense and physical. She's a strong player and she is starting to use her body to her advantage. She is rebounding better as well.

What I love seeing is her mid-range and post up games improve as they have. This really bodes well for the tourney.

You mean the play in the first half at about the 10 minute mark?

Another thing of note is that Caroline played 28 minutes last night with 1 TO. Geno got everything he wanted from her even without her scoring. She really played well helping our flow and taking care of the ball.

In the closed thread a poster said something about how last night made the team believe that they could win it all. I agree 100%.

I'm hoping it made people here start to believe again too.

Kaleena's game is a complete package skill-wise and bball IQ-wise, but her tenacity and killer instincts are the bonus that I'm absolutely lovin'!

That particular play (IMHO) set the tone for UConn "wanting it more" than ND!

That was me, I don't remember what thread it was, not sure why it was closed? Got too big?

I wasn't sure either. I tried to reply to your post this morning and couldn't. That's when I figured out it was closed.

Great point though -- hope I quoted you closely enough!

I agree. Wasn't that a joy to behold? It's when I started to believe we were going to win it.

Boy, if KF could make a few of those a game, life for the rest of the team, especially the post players, gets a lot sweeter. But I'll take those 2 huge baskets last night and enjoy them as should she. The key to GAs teams is always the D. Often the O is so good the D gets hidden a little. But - no bragging intended because it is pretty obvious - I've said for several years that UConn's D wins the game and the O says by how much. Last year on his TV show, GA used exactly those words. The D was great last night, and the whole team should be congratulated. If UConn is to have a solid chance to win it all, and I'll toss Baylor into the mix, that kind of D would be the ticket.

If Kelly Faris starts making the outside jumpers ( as good as she is with all the intangibles ) we're gonna be in the Nat'l Championship game

Mind-boggling--we hit 3 treys, and Kelly has 2 of them. When in the course of human events does that happen?

OT - I'm so old, I even know who that is in your Avatar. I was a little Jewish kid who rarely missed the guy's TV show. think his apparel drew my attention, or I was plain addicted to TV.

One other thing Kelly did: hit both FTs on UConn's first one-and-one in the second half. That was huge. It was late in the game, and fouling was the only way ND could come back. Kelly set the tone by knocking those down.

Strange she would hit those pretty highly contested shots, but miss the wide open ones. Maybe she needs to be under pressure?????
