For those that are new to the game and others that have forgotten it is requested that discussions other than prognostications of the game should be posted on other threads that your discussion pertains to. If you wish to prognosticate your prediction that is okay if you post your score. The winner/s will be posted soon after the game’s completion.

Marquette survived against Villanova with a 50-48 win and now must face UConn for the third time this season. if the Marquette play like they did today they will lose again to the Huskies even without AE. The Golden Eagles have had very little luck against UConn this season losing on New Years Eve at the XL Center 95-64 and at home in the Al McGuire Center on 1/23/24, 85-59. Over the past 10 Regular season games Marquette has gone 7-3. They have beaten at home Butler 59-48, Georgetown 52-38, DePaul 69-58 and Seton Hall 68-62. While on the road they defeated Providence 66-62, Xavier 86-62 and Butler 74-52. They have losses at home against St. John’s 50-56 and Villanova 52-55 and their road loss was against Creighton 71-76. Marquette finished third in Conference play tied with Villanova at 11-7 and 22-7 overall. Marquette’s SoS by Massey is 73rd and rated 40th. Their average in Conference play is 66.6 points a game while allowing 60.7 points, 34.7 rebounds, 17.3 assists, 6.3 steals, 3.6 blocks, 14.1 turnovers, 43.8 FG%, 76.9 FT%, 35.2 3pt% and commit 15.4 fouls. Their best win was against Creighton, Massey rated #21 and worst loss was against St. John’s twice, Massey rated #82nd. Offensively they are ranked 55th while defensively they are ranked 32nd vs UConn being ranked 4th in both offense and defense.

In their first game Marquette shot 34.4% 21-61, 28.6% in 3 pointers, 6-21 and 76.2% 16-21 from the charity strip. They had 32 rebounds, 13 assists, 3 steals, 4 blocks, 9 T/O’s and 19 fouls. While UConn 52.1% 38-73, 34.8% in 3 pointers and 64.7% 11-17 from the charity strip. Had 47 rebounds, 22 assists, 8 steals, 3 blocks, 7 T/O’s and 15 fouls. In their second game Marquette shot 40% 24-60, 36.4% in 3 pointers, and 100% 3-3 from the line. They had 28 rebounds, 21 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 16 T/O’s and 14 fouls. UConn shot 53% 35-66, 64.7% in 3’s 11-17 and 50% 4-8 from the line. While corralling 38 boards, 17 assists, 11 steals, 3 blocks, 8 T/O’s and 13 fouls.

All predictions and any changes must be submitted by 11:15 A.M. Eastern on game day, any submitted after the cut-off will not be accepted.

  • The winner must be named, either UConn/Huskies or Marquette/Golden Eagles. No predictions like "85-55 the good guys", will be accepted if there isn't a winner stated.
  • If prior to the closing of the Prognosticator’s Predictions, you wish to change your prognostication you must submit a new prediction by stating that you wish to change your previous prediction and provide the post number of the original post. If the request for change is submitted prior to the closing of accepted predictions, you will receive a "like" letting you know that it was accepted and changed.
  • If someone believes that they have been missed, or someone notices that another fellow Prognosticator has been missed by the gamekeeper, then it must be brought to the gamekeeper's attention within 24 hours of the posting of the winner(s) game thread.
  • I’m going with the assumption that AE is able to play tomorrow, and UConn pulls the game out midway in the third quarter. UConn 82Marquette 62.
The winner/s will be posted soon after the game’s completion.

Attached is a copy of the Prognosticator's Predictions Rule and Scoring System – Tournament Edition criteria, please read it so that you are familiar with the game rules. Good Luck to all you Prognosticator's out there and have some fun.

I'm worried about Edwards availability. Even with a mask, I expect the swelling and tenderness will cause her participation to be problematic. I'm hoping most symptoms will be healed by the NCAA tournament. Without Edwards the biggest problem will be rebounding, allowing too many second chances for Marquette. That will make this game very difficult.

UConn 72 Marquette 65

CHANGE: All predictions must be submitted by 2:15 P.M. Eastern! Not 11:15 A.M.
I used the time that was posted on the ESPN scoreboard which is Pacific time, not Eastern. @HuskyNan, @temery or any other mod please change the time on my original post to 2:15 PM, thanks in advance. Don't forget to set your clocks one hour ahead before going to bed.
