For those that are new to the game and others that have forgotten it is requested that discussions other than prognostications of the game should be posted on other threads that your discussion pertains to. If you wish to prognosticate your prediction that is okay if you post your score. The winner/s will be posted soon after the game’s completion.

Happy New Years everyone as UConn plays their 14th game of the season with their first game of the new year at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. The Golden Eagles are currently 9-3 with their latest & best win today at DePaul 78-59, rated by Massey at 111. This game will be the 21st time that UConn has played Marquette with a record of 19-1, their only loss was after the SC steal of the win with the out of bounds handoff that wasn’t called by the officials and ended up breaking their record of almost 30 years without consecutive game losses. Their coach is Cara Consuegra who is in her first season as the Golden Eagles head coach, she replaces coach Megan Duffy who became Virginia Tech’s new head coach. Over the past 13 seasons she was the Head Coach of the Charlotte 49’s compiling a 225-169 record. She was an assistant coach with the Golden Eagles from 2004-2011.

Their starters are Skylar Forbes, F 6’3” SO, averages 28.1 min, 15 pts, 6.8 reb, 1.4 ast, 1.6 stl, 1.9 blk and 3.7 TO. Lee Volker, G 6’1” SR, 26.5 min, 14 pts, 6 reb, 3.1 ast, 2 stl, 0.5 blk & 2 TO. Halle Vice, G 6’1” SO, 26.7 min, 9.6 pts, 6.1 reb, 2 ast, 0.6 stl, 1.3 blk & 1.5 TO. Olivia Porter, G 5’8” JR, 28 min, 7.5 pts, 2.9 reb, 3.4 ast, 1.4 stl, 0.3 blk & 2.2 TO. Jaidynn Mason G 5’6” JR, 18 min, 6.7 pts, 2.5 reb, 2.1 ast, 0.9 stl, 0.1 blk & 0.6 TO. As a team they average 71.8 pts, 41.9 reb, 17.9 ast, 9.4 stl, 5.3 blk & 15.8 TO. While allowing their opponents 54.1 pts, 32.8 reb, 10.1 ast, 6.3 stl, 3.1 blk & 18.6 TO. If UConn plays like they did against Providence it will be close. I believe that their numbers will be drastically different in this game with UConn shooting better, controlling the boards and forcing more turnovers than the Golden Eagles average.

All predictions and any changes must be submitted by 1:45 PM Eastern. Any submitted after the cut-off will not be accepted.

  • The winner must be named, either UConn/Huskies or Marquette/Golden Eagles. No predictions like "85-55 the good guys", will be accepted if there isn't a winner stated.
  • If prior to the closing of the Prognosticator’s Predictions, you wish to change your prognostication you must submit a new prediction by stating that you wish to change your previous prediction and provide the post number of the original post. If the request for change is submitted prior to the closing of accepted predictions, you will receive a "like" letting you know that it was accepted and changed.
  • If someone believes that they have been missed, or someone notices that another fellow Prognosticator has been by the gamekeeper, then it must be brought to the gamekeeper's attention within 24 hours of the posting of the winner(s) game thread.
