UConn surprised many BoneYarder's today at Creighton, the 21st ranked team in both polls with only 7 players available to play. Now they are the Huskies play the final game of 2022 at Gampel Pavilion against the Marquette Golden Eagles who just lost to Villanova at home 54 - 52. They have 4 losses so far this season, all of them except for the Colorado loss are by single digits. They played 8 against Nova with 4 players playing 34 minutes or more. They don't appear to be the same team as last year and should be less of a challenge to the Huskies as long as UConn plays their game and has more players to use. Marquette has 5 player 6' 1" or taller with the tallest being 6' 4" who averages about 5 minutes a game, so the inside should be advantageous for the Huskies, especially if Aubrey is able to play. If UConn plays like they have the past two games they should win going away. UConn 85 - Marquette 60.

All prognostications or any changes must state the winner of the game, i.e.
UConn or Marquette, not the good guys or our team, Huskies or Golden Eagles can be used. Any changes to the original prognostication must state that it is a change, with the winning team named, and must have the original thread number included. If a change is accepted you will receive a "Like" showing that it has been changed. All prognostication's and any changes must be submitted NLT 1:55 P.M. Eastern. Attached is the Prognosticator's Predictions Rules and Scoring System, the game is on SNY.
Good Luck to all you Prognosticator's out there, and Happy New Year to everyone on the Yard.

A couple days rest. Playing at home. The backcourt should play better offensively in this one but if Geno is emphasizing defense the game could look a bit more like last night and the offensive production might be down a peg. However, if Aubrey and Amari are available, fatigue may not be as big a factor this time out.

The front court play has been consistent so I expect that Aliyah and Dorka will do their thing. Marquette may be more efficient offensively than Creighton was last night.

UCONN 82 - Marquette 59; MoV: 23; UCONN will add one more player starting with this game with Amari, Aubrey vs. Butler, and Azzi vs. Xavier.... Just wish it would continue with PB and ICE - will need to pray for miraculous healing, and protection for the rest.

THEN, ALL stay healthy, and gain confidence and ability to play amazingly well inside the system designed for each game to exploit their tremendous advantages (just like last night)!!!!

Go Huskies!!!

I am worried about that ice pack Caroline had pressed to her head at the end of the Creighton game, and Nika clunking her head on the floor. If either of those turn out to be serious injuries, I'll have to revisit this prognosis.

The core of Marquette is King, Marotta, Karlen, and they are talented formidable players. After them, it looks a bit thin. The 6'4" Julianna Okosun has never really developed and only plays minor minutes. After her, Karlen is 6'2" and Marotta is 6'1", and that's pretty much it. So Aaliyah and Dorka (and Aubrey if she's cleared to play) should dominate. King is the spark for their offense, but I don't think she can handle Nika's defense.

Regardless of who suits up for UConn vs Marquette, it’s fairly apparent that nobody in the NBE can play with the Huskies this season.

UConn 82 - Marquette 58
