For those that are new to the game and others that have forgotten it is requested that discussions other than prognostications of the game should be posted on other threads that your discussion pertains to. UConn plays their season opening game against Boston University, who played their season opening game against Northeastern on Monday, winning 60-48. Alex Giannaros was the only player to score in double figures, going 8-12, 5-8 in threes and scoring 23 pts. The rest of the team went 11-40, 2-8 from three. Melissa Graves enters her fourth season as Head Women's Basketball Coach at Boston University in 2024-25. She led the Terriers to a 20-12 in their 2023-24 season losing in the Patriot League Champions Holy Cross 61-55.
She was named the ninth head coach in program history in the spring of 2021after serving as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wake Forest for the previous 3 years. Prior to Wake Forest, she spent a combined 5 years as an assistant coach at Yale and Colgate. Coach Graves last two seasons the Terriers have won 20 or more games, marking the first time that’s occurred since 2011-13. Geno/CD have won 20+ games for over the past 30 years straight and has only had a total of 4 seasons where UConn has failed to win 20 games.
This game will be the fifth time that UConn has played BU, winning the first four games, with UConn’s first win in Warwick, RI on 12/3/88, 78-59 being their closest contest. The other three games were home games in Storrs. On 3/23/03 winning 91-44, 11/28/06 winning 84-51 and on 11/22/13 they won 96-38, which was their largest MOV against the Terriers. They have 8 players 6 feet or taller with the tallest being 6’5”. They have 2 Seniors, 2 Juniors, 6 Sophomores and 6 Freshman. 5’5” Senior Alex Giannaros played in all 32 games averaging 33.4 minutes and 14.2 points and as a Sophomore she was the NCAA Division 1 3pt Percentage Statistical Champion with an average of .515 percent. Senior Natalie Jasper only appeared in 7 games averaging only 4.4 minutes after transferring from Georgetown. Juniors Anastasiia Semenova is 6’2” averaged 26.5 min, 8 points and 5.1 rebounds over 28 games, while Anete Adler is 6’5” who played 8 games averaging 17.3 min, 6.4 points and 3.6 rebounds.
All predictions and any changes must be submitted by 6:45 PM Eastern. Any submitted after the cut-off will not be accepted. The game is on SNY.
The winner must be named, either UConn/Huskies or Boston/Terriers. No "85-55 the good guys", if there isn't a winning team stated in the prognostication it will not be counted. If prior to the closing of the Prognosticator’s Predictions, you wish to change your prognostication you must submit a new prediction by stating that you wish to change your previous prediction and provide the post number of the original post. If the request for change is submitted prior to the scheduled closing of accepted predictions, you will receive a "like" letting you know that it was accepted and changed. If someone believes that they have been missed, or someone notices that another fellow prognosticator has been by the gamekeeper, then it must be brought to the gamekeeper's attention within 24 hours of the posting of the winner(s) game thread.
I believe that UConn will limit Alex Giannaros scoring and this game won’t be close. UConn will play all available players, and everyone will score. UConn 95 – Boston 55.
