Reasonable to say that Geno believes in uptempo basketball. May come partly from his Philly roots. He's buddies with Bruno. They speak the "same-a language". DePaul to me is like spraying lighter fluid on UConn. Nobody can play uptempo better than UConn in WCBB and UConn will always have better players than DePaul. I feel like the UConn players look at DePaul and say "really", "Okay, let's go".

DePaul's strategy is to get as many possessions as possible and outscore the opponent in an up-tempo game. It works very well against teams that don't score easily. Against a team like UConn DePaul hasn't much of a chance because UConn can put up 90+ against DePaul's defense.
But DePaul is always a dangerous opponent in a tournament because when they get hot they can play with everyone and a team that gets 20 in the 1st half could be down 20.

One of my favorite UConn games ever was against DePaul. It was right after Geno got made at the team and said they needed their a** beat and beat now. They came out and obliterated DePaul. I think that was in the year they got the 111 game winning streak spoiled by buzzer beater in final 4.

Maybe it's too early in morning for me, day after Christmas, but I cannot figure out what this thread is about or how to reply to.

Is the intent of OP to discuss the DePaul vs Creighton game played on Dec 22nd? If so, looking at box score, teams for the most part played an even game with the exception of score going in DePaul's favor 90-81, both play similar styles...run and gun 3's (both with 48% shooting) and neither team don't get to free throw line...am I missing something?

I think a better reference is the Depaul vs Louisville game this year. Liv could go for 30 if Geno lets her. Our guards are better and will score at will 105-65
