You are a DieHard fan of Duke, Michigan ST, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, Ohio ST or another Hotbed of Basketball Royalty. What would their Fans & States be doing if they got a Double/Retroactive Ban from the Most Exciting $ports event of the year? Sure, the school itself must move on. With Conference realignment, politics, and an apparent need for the NCAA- it looks like they appealed and will take their medicine. Why are the Fans so Quiet publicly? I'm sure those other schools, that we like to be mentioned in the company of, wouldn't take this March Ban so lightly.

Pretend for a moment ESPN, was within 30 minutes of KU, UK, UNC, MSU, OSU, & Duke Fans/Campus. What would those Diehard fans be doing today? This week? In Oct? In March?

I support the team & player loyalty. I won't recognize next years NCAA Champion, because they took a year away from a good school & a Great Man (Jim Calhoun) unfairly. The 2013 March Tournament is a Joke without all schools being eligible based on the grounds of a Fair/Accurate system of Competition/Academics.

I won't even bother watching a single game. If UConn had a petition just to show how many eyeballs the NCAA will be losing I'd be happy to sign it.

Why won't anyone Fight further against this blatant Witch Hunt??

Ah, maybe because, as screwed up as the APR is, almost every school in the country managed to avoid a ban. Look at the group of schools UConn is in with...it's embarrassing. It's REALLY hard to screw up bad enough you get a postseason ban, but I give full credit to the coaches, players and support staff for managing to overcome all the road blocks and fail anyway.

Even still Zls, how can you create a rule, after the data is already in. You MUST phase that rule, with a New High water mark in! Plus, we were already docked schollies under the old rules penalty. IT IS DEAD WRONG. If you read the APR timeline does the punishment seem fair? Yes, the grades are low and need improving, but that's not whats bothersome.

You only care about it being wrong because it dings UConn. Don't act like this is some sort of moral outrage here.

I feel, as a UConn fan, posting on a UConn board, that based on the timeline article, the NCAA has SCREWED the school. There was NO chance to improve, and avoid the Ban. That's unfair to the school, fans, and my home state. I also feel UConn/staff/coaches/past players are at FAULT for creating this mess, but has already been punished.

But the thing is, it is a moral outrage. In fact, the very punishment handed down by the NCAA contradicts every core value this country was founded on, specifically justice and an opportunity to comply with the rules. UConn doubtlessly made mistakes in the Athletic Department, but what you have to realize is that any pressing issues that may have been present had already been admirably resolved in the aftermath of UConn's steallar 2010-11 academic record.

UConn made mistakes, paid the consequences, and worked among themselves to solve those issues. As an organization pushing for athletic and academic excellence, there was really no better blueprint to point to than the 2010-11 Huskies, who were crowned champions on the court and in the classroom. Believe it or not, UConn could have served as a shining example in regard to the NCAA's new policies - a program that was able to adjust to the new guidelines and avoid the severe penalties that were impending had these issues not been resolved. Instead, the very kids who had achieved excellence on and off the court were rewarded with a punishment that came completely out of the blue.

How would you feel if you were sentenced to jail for a speeding ticket you received two years ago? Would you be sitting there saying, "look, I have nobody to blame but myself. All of my other friends have avoided speeding tickets"? I think not.

You could take a look at our competitors academic records over the past decade and point to instances where their academic records would have warranted a postseason ban. Kentucky, to name just one school, had horrendous grades and retention rates during the Tubby Smith era. Would you condone using the 2003-2007 APR scores and banning the Wildcats from next years tournament? It's really the same thing - the NCAA would be using scores earned by previous student-athletes to punish innocent kids of today.

I'm probably rambling here, but I think you're taking an extremely simple-minded view of this whole situation, and unfortunately, a similar view to the majority of college basketball fans throughout the country. Just because we've made mistakes in the past does not mean the NCAA should have the right to punish us retroactively, especially when the current scores are available.

Pretend this happened to Duke, UNC, KY, Lville, Memphis or lets say any other team in the country? Would your reaction be what an injustice or would it be how could they have screwed up something that no one else has? Would you be wailing about how unfair it is to their players or would you be writing about how they should transfer and play for Calhoun? Be honest. If Calapari, Pitino,Huggy Bear, K or anyone else was in this situation, you would not have any outrage. Do you even share the same outrage for CCSU who has a post season ban for some sport you do not care about? Of course not.

There is a reason there is no great outrage from anywhere but in CT. It involves rules and how they were applied equally to every school. See if you can figure out why.

Well apparently at least one of those schools you can get around the Apr by having faked classes... as long as you get one non athlete stoog to sit in the class as well. Then it's not an athletics issue and the NCAA won't come a knocking...

The coach was fired at that school. Do you want that to happen in this case?

1. There's Not enough CT outrage. In other markets they fans would have a Riot.

2. Every school was Not treated equally. One was punished twice for the same offense. Low APR. Then a score was designed that established a new Criteria. UConn couldn't mathematically meet that New Goal. That's far from Fair!

Yes, because of the (inaccurate) perception that JC runs a dirty program and that he is getting his comeuppance. The Miles fiasco and JC's general unlikability (be honest, what percentage of college basketball media and fans outside of Connecticut like, or even have a neutral opinion about, Jim Calhoun) robbed the program of political capital and good will.

It shouldn't be a great surprise that nobody out there is defending us and instead the majority are piling on.

Honestly, for those implying "you wouldn't care if this was another team". You're right. I don't like ANY other team. I root for them all to Fall off a cliff in performance & recruiting. But, in a blind resume of the NCAA APR timeline, taking my bias out of the equation, it's WRONG what the NCAA has done. They are money grubbing selfish Hypocrites, who could care less about kids grades.
