It slows down expansion (since there shouldn't be any exodus, and of course makes it more difficult for us to get in. I don't know what the hell will happen to us as the article states that other leagues have similar agreements (Big Ten, Pac-12 and Big 12). Since the SEC doesn't have an agreement yet, that would be a conference to raid first but they are the strongest football league in the land. What hurts is that there are 5 conferences considered 'power conferences' and we are on the outside looking in.

As for basketball, March madness makes it still possible to recruit good basketball talent as opposed to football, since not only can we schedule elite schools but if we do well in the tournament we can beat them all. Sucks for football though.

FYI I merged them together as a housekeeping move.

Doesn't the ACC have fifteen teams. Sixteen might make more sense. Also the BIG Ten might want another team and will have fewer to choose from. I can hope. :)

The only light at the end of the tunnel, (it's probably a train), is that all of the major conferences are at an odd number for scheduling.

Fourteen is an odd number for football. If anyone expands, they have to do so from the have-not conferences.

Past that, s*** be grim.

Haven't there been tomes written about the weak structuring of the B12s GOR?

The ACC has 15 teams for all sports except football. I've been told the only way we go to 16 teams is if Notre Dame decides to become a full member, which is a decision that would likely only come if forced upon them by rules of a new football playoff system.

I read it that the $50m penalty is not all that solid. And all the ACC schools agree to abide by this, unless they get an offer from the B1G/SEC in the next 6 weeks. At which time there will be more lawsuits.

Dunno, I sill hold out naive hope that the ACC comes calling for Uconn, as the fit seems appropriate. I can't imagine a school as successful and quality as Uconn gets shut out of one of the big 5 conferences. I don't understand it.
