After this Final 4 is done we'll start to see top 25 lists for next season. I know it is still early and key players have to make decisions but if the whole team returns where should Uconn be ranked? I'm guessing #14.

I think it depends a lot on Shabazz but I think anything better than 20 would be a shocker. Have a feeling our new conference will not get a lot of respect so we may even be unranked.

Unranked. We will get no respect and will continue to get no respect until we win another championship.

Anywhere from #15 to unranked would not surprise me.

20's if we're lucky. We'll probably be under-ranked all year.

One major issue is going to be OOC scheduling. We will be underseeded in the NCAA's and it could hurt the team. Big difference between a 3 and a 4 seed (if we happen to perform that well, but I think it's a possiblity).

The NCAA committee rewards schools for tough OOC schedules. There's not much you can do about your conference schedule, and that's why teams from the A10 were rewarded for playing tough OOC schedules.

Looking around the country I really don't see too many teams that will be as good as us or better but I do expect us to be way underrated. I simply can't name a team that will have a better returning core than Bazz, Boat, Calhoun and Daniels.

Obviously a lot depends on who declares for the draft and who does not, but off the top of my head I think Louisville, New Mexico, UNC and Colorado are returning basically everyone. I know Siva is a SR, but I think he is the only one.

I would guess somewhere in the low 20's, but given there are several ranking services out there (AP, Espn/coaches, etc), I'd guess it might be all over the map to start the year. top 20 wouldn't surprise me nor would being unranked.

Dieng is almost definitely gone from UL. Russ Smith a possibility to leave as well.

UNC will probably lose mcadoo

Dieng was honored on SR night, Pitino did the same thing with Earl Clark a few years back, I doubt he returns. With the way R Smith has finished I doubt he's back as well. Louisville would still be good with a good recruiting class and the other holdovers but if they lose Dieng and have to replace their starting backcourt they're going to take a setp back. New Mexico is also losing Tony Snell and could lose Alex Kirk if they don't name one of their assistants HC.

Ah I did not know that about Deng, but it makes sense for him to go probably. Also, did not realize Snell declared. I do not think Russ Smith leaves though, he would not be a 1st round pick.

Kirk would be a big loss for UNM if he transfers.

Tony Snell declared for the NBA as mentioned above and has until the 16th to pull out. Bryce Alford NM's top recruit will follow dad to UCLA. If these things didn't happen NM would be top 10. Now they may finish 2nd to Boise in the MWC next year. Also still could be more player fall out from the Alford departure if Noodles/Neal isn't hired.

Aaron Gordon to Arizona announced. Still not sold on their back court with the loss of Lyons. Depends on Gabe York.

I want to be a 4 seed in the West. 99, 04 & 2011 we were 1, 2, & 3 seeds in the West. Give me a 4 in the west in 2014!

Taking into consideration the links below UConn will more likely than not start the season in the receiving votes part of the polls regardless of further news on early entrants to the NBA with few exceptions. IMO.

Most vulnerable to be knocked out IMO are Miami (If Larkin leaves even though they lose a lot), New Mexico (If they lose 1 more player besides Snell due to Alford leaving), Kansas State (lose Henriquez and McGruder), Oklahoma State (lose Smart but will be top 25 if Nash returns), Wisconsin (Lose Berggren and carrot top), Pitt (Lose Woodall and Taylor), Creighton (If McDermott leaves will not be ranked pre season top 25), Oregon (loss of 3 key seniors).

If Roberson/Colorado and Crabbe/California return look for these teams to be ranked in the Top 25 ahead of UConn. Possibly VCU who brings in a very good under the radar recruiting class to replace Theus and Daniels. The sentimental favorites like Butler ect ect...will be around and the result will be UConn being UNRANKED but receiving votes IMO.

The UConn front court is problematic in the eyes of many. Olander/Wolf?/Facey/Brimah. If this group by committee actually works hard in the off season and makes solid progress developing their game I think UConn can be protected by the selection committee in next years tournament by garnering a top 4 seed and playing in MSG in the Regionals. With Bazz hitting on all cylinders and playing with a major chip I really can see UConn making the Final4 with a little good fortune. JMHO

I just tried to do a very very quick vetting for next year nationally....

I'd rather be top 5 wire-to-wire and a #1-seed lock from November through March. But your way works too.

As far as next year, probably preseason #15-20. If we play to our potential, we could rocket into the top 10 and a #2 seed.

Wow #15-20 pre-season! Nice!!!! I can't wait! Go Huskies!! Want to see that love from the AP voters! Sweet!!!

Memphis is amped for the new conference. Some interesting tid bits on new conference teams in the thread even though the origianl OP is way off on UConn.

I would have to say in the top ten. They will have one of the best backcourts in the country, maybe not all nba-all stars, but that does not really mean much in college, the game is different. an emerging force in deandre daniels. olander and giffey have experience and will give some solid minutes. Then we will gain some more rebounding in our recruits, and also expect nolan to be better next year. At times they played like a top 20 team this years. Typically power schools that return the majority of their scoring and play as well as they did usually at the very least enter the top 15, but I am guessing possibly higher. People are starting to love KO, and that plays in to rankings.

Don't forget about Nolan. I really liked his poise on the court and think he could be a solid contributor next season. He had a pretty good offensive handle, was in position for rebounds, and didn't leave his feet on pump fakes. I think he is going to be a real nice 4 year player.
