The Huskies lose no key contributors from a team that went 20-10 and surprised many in Kevin Ollie's first season. Now that they are NCAA tournament eligible, I expect another big jump from UConn in year 2 of the Ollie regime. Tough to find a better backcourt in the country than Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright. I am likely higher on this team than most.

Shabazz Napier, Ryan Boatright and DeAndre Daniels are all returning to Kevin Ollie’s overlooked team from last season. They’ve got a chip on their shoulder after being banned from postseason play last season. If Daniels works hard over the summer, he might take the nation by storm. Freshman Kentan Facey is expected to help on the boards.

Connecticut was solid in year one of the Kevin Ollie era, finishing 20-10, and that team had nothing to play for but pride. The postseason ban is over and Ollie returns his entire starting lineup, led by Ryan Boatright and Shabazz Napier. The new American Athletic Conference schools are going to have a blast defending those two.The Huskies will return to the postseason and challenge Memphis for best team other than Louisville in the first year of the American Athletic Conference.

The Huskies are back after a year spent in limbo due to poor academics, a rough patch in program history that also cost them some of their best players to the NBA and transferring. But Kevin Ollie earned himself the permanent head coaching gig, and UConn pulled off some nice wins last season despite lacking the motivation most teams have throughout the season: the potential for postseason glory. Now, the Huskies have it. Shabazz Napier (17.1 ppg, 4.6 apg) will try to lead this team back to the NCAA tournament and establish himself as one of the best guards in the nation.

If the game is about guard play as much as some coaches insist it is, the Huskies should be in excellent shape with Shabazz Napier, Ryan Boatright and Omar Calhoun.

Kevin Ollie did an excellent job under difficult circumstances last season, when the Huskies -- who were banned from postseason play -- had nothing to play for but still managed to go 20-10. It seems safe to assume Ollie's second season will be even better, especially with the return of guards Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright, who will combine to form one of the top backcourts in the country. The twosome averaged 33.5 points and nine assists this season. Double-digit scorers DeAndre Daniels (12.1 points) and Omar Calhoun (11.1) also return. Connecticut ranked second to last in the Big East this past season in rebounding. Ollie's team must get tougher in the paint, where it is undermanned.
