Lost in all the hubbub of the end of the season, this is some excellent news (from Borges):
PRACTICE FACILITY GROUNDBREAKING
After the game, UConn athletic director Warde Manuel announced there will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the school’s new basketball practice facility on April 16. The project is expected to be completed by about May, 2014, according to Manuel.
This is a critical date because Ollie can tell 2014 recruits that they will have a brand new practice facility waiting for them when they arrive. 2014 is a huge huge year as far as recruiting and continuing the success of the program. We could lose 5 or 6 guys after next year and be looking to restock the shelves (TO, NG, SN, EW, RB, DD). Having the new practice facility being ready by that class is CRITICAL.
