I'm guessing that both Texas and Kansas will win a game before we do so it's quite possible he hits #1 soon. Yay UCONN! We're #1! Ugh.

Guess Warde won't be happy until he passes Brown & Weis.

Also there's a great read this week at this blog. I guess Chris Petersen (Boise State) talked about how "unfair" coacheshotseat.com is because it puts "unnecessary" pressure on coaches. Sounded very much like the PP defenders in The Horde. The hot seat guy just eviscerated Petersen.

Well now, I was happy to see UConn move up in the US News rankings for academic performance. I have different feeling about this ranking. On the one hand, I want the kids to perform well and have a decent season. On the other hand, I know Pasqualoni is not the guy we want as a coach, so the fastest route to his demise is OK with me.

Didn't realize Ferentz was on the hot seat. That's peculiar for all the success he's had at Iowa.

Garrick McGee--one of the other guys Hathaway talked to when he hired Pasqualoni--is also on the hot seat at UAB.

The hot seat guy is obsessed with how much money Ferentz is making... he's ranted about it a lot on his blog.. and Ferentz hasn't exactly lit it up lately.

We're talking about Iowa though. Have a look at their recruiting territory. Fewer players than available for Connecticut. Iowa should be as powerful as, say, Iowa State or Indiana at football, no more.

Agreed. Sure, you can find the beefy OL and DL types but you're also going up against other B1G, B12 and PAC schools for those kids. The recruiting is similar to UCONN and the school is in the middle of nowhere (I used to live in Waterloo, IA and Iowa City wasn't too far away). I would certainly give him a call to gauge his interest in the UCONN job if he were available after the season. He's big enough a name that he would open doors in northeast recruits' homes and has the credibility of a program builder. He's older so there's a strike against him but he's certainly an interesting option along with the list of young, up and coming coordinators and coaches at D-II levels.

Ferentz hasn't worked his magic in a few years. There are questions about whether he still has the fire. For this reason, I wouldn't touch him as P's replacement, though I thought he'd be perfect the first couple times Randy tried to leave.

I want a hungry guy, who is respected by his peers enough to say that X as a HC is a no-brainer, he'll do great. Basically, the Bill O'Brien treatment, though I don't think we have NFL assistant pull, atm.

I do think we can get a guy coming off a job in the couple years who was pushed out for less than legit reasons. Bradley, Polini, type, not the Petrino, Kiffin type.

Tressel would be the big get, of course.

Not as high on the young hot assistant as they can be hit or miss, unless they meet the above BO'B criteria.

This next hire needs to be a HR and we should pay to see that it happens and accept that the guy will only be here for 3-5 years unless we are invited to a BCS conference.

He should not be travelling to Buffalo. However, our AD is small time and he'll keep him on until Thanksgiving, minimum

We'll see - but I'm afraid you're right! Let's wait until Monday though and see how things have played out Saturday. If we put on another show like we did against Towson & Maryland, then bye-bye PP and GDL.
