Oklahoma coach Jennie Baranczyk got to see her daughter Jordi's youth basketball game Saturday morning, not something she was expecting considering the Sooners had a women's college basketball game at Kansas that afternoon.

But in these unusual times, teams can never be sure what road trips will be like. Because of COVID-19 protocol, the Sooners didn't fly out until later that morning, arriving at Allen Fieldhouse a few hours before their 4 p.m. local time tipoff. Oklahoma looked as if was still in transit during the first quarter, and trailed by 16 in the second quarter, before things changed dramatically.

Nikki Collen is off to a solid start? That's a stretch. And before yesterday's win over Arizona, Gottlieb was hardly doing anything noteworthy at USC. There must be very few new P5 coaches who have been successful so far if these 2 were among those mentioned.

Bump. Baylor is off to an 0-2 start in conference play. How often did Mulkey lose more than 1 conference game in a season? How in the world did Collen make this list?

Looked at wiki. Took a while for Mulkey to get it rolling, but starting w/ 2010-11 season, she only lost 2 conference games twice in 11 seasons. The other 9 were 1 loss or undefeated. I think this will quickly go down as one of the worst coaching changes ever.

I am getting Stephanie White vibes. She technically could still turn it around but they likely aren't going to be near as good next year as I predict Smith heads to the WNBA.

It was a risky hire.

I have been following Shea at Vandy and I’m impressed with her so far. I thought she would be a good hire but she seems to really have earned the players trust and they are playing well.

Would Doug Novak count? He is doing a decent job at Mississippi State given he only took over a week or two before the season started.

Oklahoma coach Jennie Baranczyk and it's not even close to me - at this point.

Oklahoma has played 12 quad 1/2 teams. That's second only to Scar.
Only 16 teams who have played at least 8 quad 1/2 teams, including Oklahoma, have a .500 or better record against those quads
Oklahoma's winning percentage against quad 1/2 teams is 83% - third only to SCar and Tenn.
Oklahoma's total of 5 wins vs quad 1 teams is tied for 4th highest winning percentage.

Oklahoma is severely under-ranked IMHO.

Definitely doing a great job right out of the gate there. I think Mulkey at LSU has to be considered right there with her.

I’m still giving the caveat that I’m taking a very cautious “wait and see” approach as to if he is the long term solution as Mississippi State head coach. That aside he has certainly made chicken salad out of chicken crap so far. He got the interim head job a couple of weeks before the start of official practice. J Carter is out before the season. Two players transferred after the first game and two more have been injured all season. His sixth man Ashley Jones has missed 7 games, Anastasia Hayes has missed 4 games, R Jackson has missed the last 2 SEC games and R Farley missed the last SEC game. He won at Alabama with eight players and against Vanderbilt with seven. The team is second nationally in blocked shots. Finally I haven’t heard him whine about any of it. No matter if he gets the job or not I’m very appreciative of his efforts and the seriousness he has taken this interim position.
