You probably know Baylor better than I do. Maybe it was a Maserati in her first year, but other than Egbo and Smith, she had Fontleroy, Asbery, Andrews and Bickle for the next two years. They were 28-7 in 21-22 and lost in the second round to SDSU, who had one of their best teams. In the regular season, they beat Iowa State and Texas twice and lost to MD (ranked #3 at the time), and eventually lost to Texas in a third meeting in the Big12 tournament. The following year, without Egbo and Smith, the went 20-13 and split the season series with Texas and Iowa St. They eventually lost to UConn in the second round of the tournament. And last season they went 26-8 and beat VA Tech (without Kitley) in the second round and lost in the third round to USC. I'm not sure this record fully bears out your criticism of Collen. Is she a great in-game strategist? Is she a great player development coach? My sense is that she missed her chance with Smith and Egbo that first season. On the other hand, she seems to have helped Andrews and Bickle develop. I haven't heard the gossip about her, if there is any, but Holly Warlick produced a pretty toxic atmosphere at Tennessee. I haven't heard anything remotely like that about Collen. Players seem to want to stay with her.
