Given the success of Bubbleville what the chances Mohegan gets a first weekend of the NCAA tournament in the near future? Arena is a bit small but the crowds tend to be sparse the first games anyways. It would be a gambler’s dream.

Maybe they will look into it in the future but for this year it's a 0% chance. The NCAA is looking to do a single bubble in Indianapolis for the tournament this season.

Yeah I’m pretty sure sites are set well in advance. Just wondering if it would be possible in the future.

I think it'd be a great spot. At the end of the day the NCAA cares about sponsorship and hospitality packages - both of which can be done really well at Mohegan. The arena a bit small, but still think it'd be doable. Would be great for the teams and traveling fans to stay right at Mohegan and have all of the entertainment and dining options right there. Seems like the teams have been impressed with how Bubbleville has been run which can go a long way towards securing it as a site.

Average is 10,813. First round games are likely lower given that semis and finals are much higher.

Attached to a casino. Zero chance the NCAA would do that at the moment.

I don't think it's too small. I've been to many first round games and the places are surely not full, and in some cases almost halfway empty - especially when there's no local team playing.

I think it's great that Mohegan stepped up with the "Bubbleville" idea. I hope Mohegan continues to form a partnership/friendship with the NCAA so more games can be held there in the future. I know they have the Hall Of Fame Tip Off Classic every year, and that has attracted some big name schools, but I hope they can add more games and even an NCAA Tournament in the future.

What’s the Dunk? Like 12000?
Right around there yes. And for a matchup between Florida Gulf Coast and Baylor, there will be little demand and many empty seats. I think Mohegan is a very ideal spot for round 1 games. I also don't think there will be fans at this years NCAA tourney. I usually enter the lotto to buy Final 4 tickets, and although they still conducted it, I didn't even bother this year.

I could definitely see Mohegan cashing in some chips and pressuring NCAA for a favor in the future.

First problem for Mohegan Sun is they would need a school sponsor. The only logical choice would be UConn, but as long as the XL Center is standing, it is not happening. The second problem is the number of options in the Northeast with much larger arenas:

Mohegan Sun: 9.3k

Carrier Dome: 35k
MSG: 20.8k
Izod Center: 20k
Boston: 18.6k
Barclays: 17.7k
XL Center: 15.6k
Albany: 15.2k
Worcester: 13k
Providence: 12.4k

Don't forget, when the NCAAs are in the above locations, they will sell out, except Syracuse, but there will still be plenty of fans. Have you ever tried to buy NCAA tournament tickets for any of the above locations on StubHub?

If there is still no fans it could be a site for most of the tournament - the bubble concept has worked well there and the NCAA has to take notice

I personally think that's the end goal with hosting this. Show off to the NCAA that they can be a good host.

Perhaps after the success of Bubbleville they look at possible expansion of the arena

Arena size won't matter as there will likely be no fans in attendance. In fact, the optics of a large empty arena may be worse. However, I doubt it happens this season. I could see it hosting a conference tournament.

I feel like that would be very challenging given it’s location. I also feel like it is “right sized”

Any word yet on our third game in bubbleville? The national attention alone makes it worth it.
