Wow, Fowler going through absolute contortions to ignore that UConn was a Big East member from day 1.

  What does it matter it was a basketball conference at the time. Do not understand your itch here. We were not in the BE in football from day one, and that is his topic. No football team in the 10-team Big East lineup for 2014 has held membership for more than nine years.

That and we were cellar dwellers in basketball to the point of people calling for the school to go back to the Yankee Conference.
And then along came Jim...

As for the Catholic Seven re-branding...Why don't they just go with that? With what is going on with all conferences and the lying and the denial...This including the C-7 maybe....... The Confessional Conference...

You said they were bottom of the basement. But they were really middle of the pack. They were a .500 team the first and third year, and then had a winning record in between. In 1981, they beat Georgetown twice, they beat Syracuse, St. John's. Beat G'town the next year too, when G'town went to the final.

The basketball schools might have more attachment to it because of their history in the league. If the name is worth, say, $8-10 million, that's good money for a football league that resembles the old Conference USA after several waves of conference realignment.

You honestly think the above makes sense?

Woof, read this and explain it to me please:

We'll need the BE name for when 80% of the ACC consists of former BE teams. Bring the name out of storage, move back to MSG and in 20 years people will speak of how the ACC sowed the seeds of its own destruction.

Karma demands it.
