Penn State fits perfectly. They have a home and home with RU in 2014 and 2015 with 2014 to be played at RU. With RU going to the B1G (probably by 2014) we would be a good replacement (very beatable team, close to PA, easy for their NYC and New England alumni to get to, UConn would probably travel pretty well for the return game at Happy Valley).

Since RU will be in the B1G and needs conference games, it's unlikely that PSU series gets cancelled. It's more likely PSU cancels another B1G game to get to the right number of conference games. We should figure out what that team is and schedule them. Since they'll cancel two different teams in 2014 and 2015, maybe we can get two home and homes out of it.

I'm sure sooner than later we'll be going to Penn St as it's Coach P's Alma mater. With the way the conference re-alignment thing is shaking out UConn might have to do a lot of traveling OOC in order to play top opponents and have any shot at getting ranked. Lets face it, the Huskies have to prove to the Div 1 world that they belong. Folks(Rutgers, BC & Syracuse) want to see UConn football disappear. We're cutting into their pool of potential Northeastern recruits. We may be stuck doing 2 for 1's until we earn our way into something better. Beggars can't be choosers and for the time being we are on the short end of that equation. So be it. Let's beat Penn St at their own place. It's not far. I'd go to that game. It's a day trip.

You can't say "coach P" and "getting ranked" in the same paragraph. It's an oxymoron.

They can play the game amd not count it as it a conference game. It has been happening a lot with conference realignment

With the Rutgers-Maryland additions the whole conference is short 8 games. So their main goal has to be adding conference games, not eliminating them.

The real issue is that if Penn State drops conference opponents because its Rutgers games are now conference games, the B1G teams that were dropped need to schedule Maryland or Rutgers as replacement opponents so that Md-RU get up to 8 games and the B1G teams return to 8. So there's nothing here suggesting new opportunities for UConn.

You've entered the twilight zone my friend. When you have a 14 team league and only 8 conference games there is no shortage of games to be scheduled within the conference. PSU will drop RU as an OOC game because RU will be in the B1G. That means PSU will have an OOC opening.

What? The Big 10 hasn't even put together divisions yet but every concept I've seen has PSU in RU's division so unlikely they play twice.

PJ - the league sets the conference games not the schools. They can make whatever combinations they like once they set the divisions.

True. Alright, contact them, see if we can get something done.
