Not a Florida thread. A looking forward thread.

What do we need to do to contend next year?

Given complete flame out by the Big East, where should we be looking?

NIL?

Plenty of questions and some answers for next year.

1. Hurley should be back. After last off-season with Lakers and Kentucky, there shouldn't be much angst over Hurley leaving.
2. Kimani and Luke? Who knows. Yes, there is a greater than 0% chance they stay assistants at UConn forever, but it's pretty low. If the right opening comes up, they need to spread their wings.
3. Diarra and Hohnson are done. Thank you and best wishes moving forward beyond UConn basketball.
4. Karaban. Go or stay.
5. McNeeley. Most everything points to one and done.
6. Everyone else. No, I won't speculate on names, but recent history of UConn and every other team indicates some current players with eligibility will be transferring. In today's game, it is what it is. I am confident Hurley will give them an honest assessment of where they stand and what they need to do to remain at UConn. I don't know how the money part of that conversation goes.
7. Incoming recruits. There's a ton of talent which supposedly fits Hurley's mold.
8. Incoming transfers. No names but I want grown men who are physically mature. They have to he plug and play ready for the highest level of D1 hoops.

1. I believe Dan Hurley will be here until he retires from coaching the game.
2. Kimani and Luke should look at offers. They would be quality coaches.
3. HD and SJ are Uconn Huskies through and through. They will be sorely missed.
4. AK is a tough one. Part of me wants him to stay. I think his performance this year has lowered his stock in the NBA.
5. LM agree.
6. Dan Hurley mentioned in a recent interview that about 50% of returners are condsidering entering the portal with some of them already having contact with other schools.
7. Incoming class is good but will need a lot of grooming on what Dan Hurley's expectations will be and now it is the college game.
8. The next few weeks we will probably see what is needed. Definitely some players with at least 2 years experience at the college level and bring in some big guards.

Within the realm of possibility I want AK and Reed back along with the 3 amigos (Ball, Stew and Ross) because it seems like they’re close to a package deal. Add the 4 recruits Plus a starting transfer PG. there’s the 10 man rotation right there.

I haven't heard anything like this mentioned anywhere. Is this the going opinion?

Ball could be a strategic recruiter for next year's roster. Is definitely tight with Ross/Stewie and played at Brewster with Bol Bowen-FSU -in the portal. New England kid that we looked at in the past.

On point six.

To clarify, it wasn't that our kids were looking elsewhere during the season, it was outsiders attempting to make it clear that there was significant interest in them and it could be financially beneficial.

I don't know who is doing what but I do know that a couple of kids are being given offers that will not be easy to dismiss.

I'll be very happy if we get Ball and Reed back, that gives us a nice foundation with the incoming freshmen. Karaban is probably gone to the NBA but who knows. As for the rest, I'd like to have Stewart back if he'll be happy with his role, but that's it

Luke has a young family of 3 kids one pretty recent. Does he uproot now? Does he want the 24/7 stress of a head coaching job that would nearly eliminate family life? It’s what head coaches do but I’m guessing no at this time. He’s still very young. He probably lives in Glastonbury or east of and makes $700 k plus and is very happy. Just my take and of course the opportunities for him will be there in the future. I hope I am right.

Have you seen Bol Bowen play? Pass

I agree. I also don't think the Murray's are gonna struggle with $.
Plus, not every coach seeks continuous advancement. We only hear about the ones that do because the Bob Hurley seniors of the world rarely make the headlines.

He literally said there were guys on the team talking to other teams, including what their NIL take would be at the other school

Yes. It wasn't as if our guys were soliciting those conversations.
