Come'on, man, let's have some rigor here!

It's "Polk Salad Annie" by Tony Joe White; and the line is "gator's got your granny."

I saw him live and I love that song. It's the first song on my running playlist of some 1,000+ songs. I put the list on shuffle when I run, but half the time I start it from the top with that song because it's kind of a ritual and it gets me started off on a good pace (i.e., a half-step faster than a brisk walk).

Anyway, when you hear the song as often as I have, you don't forget about granny. And for the record, her daddy was lazy and no count, claimed he had a bad back; and her momma--a wretched, spiteful, straight-razor totin' woman--was workin' on the chain gang.

Which makes it all the more tragic that the gator got her granny...chomp, chomp, chomp...
Love the line about her momma. Speaking of those who toted razors, how about the misheard line "Friday down at Ree Kay Oh"?

Okay, I'm not sure where we are, but I could never figure out this line to a very popular song.

I think this is the last entry:
From Journey's "Don't Stop Believing".
"A singer in a smoky room, a smell of wine and cheap perfume"

Shoot the boy right now?
But to be honest I'm not sure if that is a song line or just commentary. Bama?

Okay, Junior Walker and the All Stars Shotgun.
"Shoot him 'fore he run now"
See my two entries above. Take your choice.

The Beatles, "She Loves You"

You know it's up to you
I think it's only fair
Pride can hurt you, too
Apologize to her

Here's mine: " Purdy little love song". This is what I thought the verse always was.

It serves a dual purpose here!

You and me and Leslie....
One of my all time favorite songs> The Rascals hit Groovin''

Life could be ecstasy, you and me endlessly, Groovin on a Sunday afternoon, really couldn't get away too soon .

Heard it over and over cruising around on warm days in a "borrowed" convertible in 1967. I was sure that is the way life would be, and then "I Found Out".

For a new misheard line I give you a song chock full of them. How about "wrecked up like a , another runner in the night".

For a little comic relief, Peter Kay has built his comic routine around misunderstood lyrics.

Are gooses cooked?
Our rescue station is shot.
The Everly Brothers first number one song, "Wake Up Little Susie" Banned in Boston and many other sleepy little towns in 1957.

"We fell asleep, our goose is cooked ,our reputation is shot". How about those friends who say ooh la, la? My older sister had the album and we played it to death! I would snicker and she would whack me!

How about "... It's there in his kids"

Good for you. I always thought they were singing about a threesome.

Everybody misheard this one, Manfred Mann Blinded by the Light.
"Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night."

I'll let someon else continue the thread.

The Buckinghams with "Kind of a Drag". Less sparkling than Canada Dry!

It's usually misheard "wrapped up like a ".

But yea, "revved up like a deuce" (as in little deuce coupe, you don't know what I got).

So I'll add to this thread

"Have you ever seen Lorraine"

Creedence Clearwater song "Have you ever seen the Rain" would be my guess. And I did enjoy your cross reference to the Beach Boys. That song was also the source of some misheard lyrics when people were puzzled by the "one more thing I got the pink slip daddy" line.
