So, did anyone else see any press on this?

NANCY LIEBERMAN POINT GUARD OF THE YEAR - Hannah Hidalgo
ANN MEYERS DRYSDALE SHOOTING GUARD OF THE YEAR - Mikayla Blakes
CHERYL MILLER SMALL FORWARD OF THE YEAR - Madison Booker
KATRINA MCCLAIN POWER FORWARD OF THE YEAR - Sarah Strong
LISA LESLIE CENTER OF THE YEAR - Lauren Betts

I’m sure Joyce Edwards was wondering how big the chip on her shoulder was. She outplayed Sarah.
I beg to differ. I also disagree. Sarah still had decent numbers and a double double. Sarah had more points, more rebounds and less turnovers than Joyce. So, no, she did not outplay Sarah.

No. Sarah had better numbers across the board than Edwards with one exception. Sarah shot 4/16 while Edwards shot 5/14. But when you consider that all of Edwards shots were inside the arc and Sarah shot 2/5 from 3-pt range, that pretty much evens out.

With that said, neither Sarah or Edwards had the type of game we might have expected from an AA.

Besides the dispute about who played better on Friday night, it's also important to realize that the awards are based on season-long performance, not one game even if it is head-to-head. And since Joyce did not guard Sarah most of the time, it wasn't really head-to-head anyway.

Sarah is a 3 level scorer, better assist numbers, better all around player. Joyce is not an outside threat, not as much impact on the overall game. Joyce is still great and will continue to develop.
