At first I did not think there would be a need for PON in this game, what with the way the game thread was going in the first half. Then the unthinkable happened, the team performed exponentially better in the second half. What a disaster! I mean, for years the Boneyard has been able to save energy by reusing the same complaints for not performing as well in the second half, letting other teams escape from being doubled up on in scoring margin. Given our aging demographic, are we really ready for the new complaints we must construct for the team performing better in second halves?
What really disturbs me is that for the second game in a row the opposing team has a higher assists to made baskets than we do. This will soon be in every opposing coach's scouting reports: "If we can play a flawless team offense we can stay within 70 points of this team." This is something that needs to be fixed ASAP.
Also in need of fixing is one more turnover than blocked shots, and it would have been much worse if Stokes didn't get 7 of them herself. Speaking of which, maybe Stokes would finally get an offensive rebound if she stayed at home rather than trying to block every shot. Oh wait, um, never mind.
And what is it with our 6'5" center leading the team in steals? The others must not be trying hard enough. Now here are some individual PONs.
Banks - For the second consecutive game she got ZERO offensive rebounds. Once is a pattern; twice is a long term trend.
Faris - Speaking of trends, Faris got one more assist than in the first exhibition game, but two more turnovers! If this trend continues she will start getting more turnovers than assists halfway through the season. So much for senior stability.
