What do you think of Casey Jacobsen? He hasn't done many UConn games but I thought he was pretty good.
I like him, don't know if it's a work/life balance thing but I wished he worked more games instead of the studio show

Gus Johnson gets more annoying every year. The “pure” catch phrase is so lame.
I think he is losing it. Not concise anymore. He called Bill Murray ugly during the Xavier game... I thought that was extremely weird

What? He did?

That's incredibly weird and uncalled for.

He might be the worst alum you could pick. Arrogant and often uninformed, likes the sound of his own voice and can’t stop making things about him. You’d think the guy was Michael Jordan the way he talks sometimes. I’m consistently shocked someone at Fox chooses to cut him a paycheck - most fans of other teams agree
Need a shovel to get through this BS

.-.
the problem with Donny is he thinks he is more interesting than he actually is. as if every anecdote about himself is of interest to the viewer.

and he does the annoying self-deprecating thing, when he wants to talk about himself without it being too obvious that it is an ego stroke, but it is always very transparent.

and his game insights are pretty generic/weak, so it is not enough to offset his personality.

overall, I am very surprised he even got the job in the first place. must have schmoozed the right person.

Before my wife passed , she was sick for a couple years. I got accustomed to watching games with the sound muted so I could spend time with her and still watch games. Once you acclimate to it, it becomes normal. I now realize that all announcers talk way too much and find myself tuning them out.
only watch muted. there's no play by play when you're at the game, not needed at home

he was equally ineffective when he was an alumni trustee

UCFan is right though, Donny is insufferable. "Just doing their job"... very poorly, and we are within our rights to acknowledge that. Seems like your only rebuttal is pearl clutching that he's an alum and that somehow makes him off limits? Fanta's talent and enthusiasm is wasted on him, pains me how often they get paired together. I'm all good on the guy that just spouts endless platitudes all game for the sake of hearing himself talk. Sometimes I really wonder if he's watching the same game I am.
Difference when you start calling someone “arrogant and talentless” on the internet. Not acceptable

As a Basketball and football season ticket holder I can say I listen to commentary of someone sitting around me. Unfortunately you can't mute that. I remember at one of the football games years ago, on one of the first plays they handed the ball off to Donald Brown and he broke it for around 80 yards. As soon it was handed off he yelled " why are we running it?". As he was high fiving everyone, I said to him " We should have thrown it. "
