Talked with Brett McMurphy last night about our bowl chances. Thought he had some good insight:

On the one hand, he says the SEC could expand but then says none of the Power 5 conferences would take a team at the level of UConn. The SEC, if expanding, would likely eye a couple of the ACC teams, and somehow they would pay for the GOR. I think that would open a spot for UConn. PAC12 for football only could be more flexible, he adds.

One more time, how does one "pay for the GOR"?

It was weird that he said there is no P5 conference taking G5s or indepenents when the BIG12 just added 3 G5 schools and 1 independent and the 3 G5 schools are light years away from being the top school in their state and lack national championships, so it's not even G5s that dominate a state or sport like UConn does. Maybe UConn keeps getting screwed in conference realignment, but the only thing holding them back is winning in football based on the schools that have recently been accepted into major conferences.

People just don't realize how fast winning changes public perception. It changes things overnight. We've already gone from the most trashed football program in the country to media darling in one season. It happened during Edsall 1.0 too. We won some games and suddenly all the experts are picking us to beat Michigan in the Big House to open the season.

Exactly. I've looked at the all time record of schools broken down by year and it's amazing how perception can flip quickly.
This year was the equivalent of 2 winning seasons based on the press and momentum. Tons of freshman and sophomores starting for us this year means 7+ wins the next 2-3 years is very likely and Mora utilizing the transfer market should help. Recruiting will pick up significantly with more success and future win totals should be high as we'll. Obviously if Mora leaves, then we have to reset expectations, but all signs point towards him staying for the remainder of his career as long as the school and boosters support the football program financially through more money for assistant salaries and some NIL money to attract and keep some top national recruiters at key positions like quarterback.

One more time -- you simply don't let the recipient of your grant enter your stadium and show your games, fight their attempt to get specific performance (to get an equitable remedy in most jurisdictions, you have to show both likelihood of success on the merits, which they probably could, but that money damages are not an adequate remedy, and a good argument can be made that you can't show that), and then ultimately pay or settle the claim for money damages.

I'm glad that you're 100% confident that the GOR is specifically enforceable before the first case of someone trying to get out of it. As someone who works with contacts for a living, there are very few clauses that I am 100% will be specifically enforced until I have some case law to point to.
