If I am counting correctly (always a question) we now have ten active players on the roster plus the two transfers. Next year we have four frosh coming in, and only TLaw and Sania leaving. That seems to tote up to fourteen players, none of whom is a walk-on. Has Geno ever before had such a number of players competing for time?

Is there a maximum number of players that a team is allowed to carry on its roster?

Maximum number of scholarship players is 15, there is no limit on non-scholarship players that I am aware of.

14/15 was hit sometime in the 1999-2002 range I believe, but since then it has generally been 10-12.

There is no such thing as "a plethora," because "plethora" is an adjective, not a noun.

Sorry, but plethora is a noun, meaning an excess of something,

Having 16 players on scholarships would represent a plethora.

Try again.;)

With this many players, I feel some may opt to transfer because of not enough playing time.

Not if he pulls the starters when the game is no longer in doubt. Doing that will: 1. Keep them fresh. If they can put AAC teams away early (by the end of the 3rd qtr), this scenario could work. 2. Give the bench 50 + minutes or more a game. You never know, but I don't see anyone defecting at the end of this season.

Sorry, I was thinking of myriad, which is often used as "a myriad."

I zoned out. You're right.

OK, you get one back. myriad is an adjective (meaning very many) that is often mistakenly used as a noun. You might read something like this:

"Geno has a myriad of options."

It would be better to say:

"Geno has myriad options."

Fairfield Fan, I believe "myriad" can be used either as a noun or an adjective.

The 2017-2018 squad will be three deep at every position, with a third string that will likely be better than most DI teams. But that will come in due time, I am incredibly excited about the season that is about to begin!

If they're not playing and transfer (e.g., Ekmark Engeln), Geno will wish them well and moves on without a change in tempo.
