Holy lord this is possibly more atrocious than Nike's rebranding of the OSU Beavers..
False Alarm...

I've deleted my previous tweet of a new UConn logo, after receiving new (and convincing) information that it's not legit.
Jonathan is friendly, not a man-eating wolf with 1 eye
Albany - Great DanesOddly, I noticed that recently when the logo of UConn and some other team appeared in sequence, maybe during the selection show. It was very striking that the UConn husky is a smiling, friendly image. And most other team logos -- especially when an animal is invovled -- incorporate ferocious, aggressive images. A few are whimsical,, nut there are few that are simply friendly.
I much prefer the UConn approach. It fits my view of things, but another plus is that it is relatively unique, not following the same old cliched approach. It says there are ways to win other than tearing the other guy's throat out.
I also got to thinking: How many team mascots/nicknames refer to dogs? First thought is that there would be many, but other than huskies, bulldogs, salukis, terriers and greyhounds (Naugatuck H.S.?) or whippets (Lake Wobegon), I have been unable to think of any other breed of dog that is a team mascot. There must be others, right? Can anyone think of any?
.
Just imagine how much more room for catastrophe there would be in rebranding The Beavers!
I like the current logo. the colors are great with the splash of red for the tongue. Not sure why they feel the need to change it, but not much we can do about it.

I've always disliked the logo, too soft. I don't buy anything that has the logo or the school crest. I welcome a logo with a little attitude, but not like the erroneous one above.
