Alice Brock, the Alice of "Alice's Restaurant" fame, made famous by a former neighbor, Arlo Guthrie, has passed away.
I have posted Alice's Restaurant in many music threads over the years, around Thanksgiving time.
Thanks, Centerstream!

My brother and I pay homage to Arlo and Alice when we often stop in Stockbridge for a nightcap (a rum-laced, mulled cider this time of year) at the nearby Red Lion Inn's pub, dating to the late 1700s. Art was at Williams College, up the road about 30 miles, when Arlo made Alice and her 'restaurant' famous in the mid '60s.

We've been playing golf at Williams College's wonderful Taconic Golf Club for the past 60 years. Much of the joy of our annual dozen or so trips north from Connecticut is soaking in the vibes of Stockbridge, Norman Rockwell, the Red Lion, all the while fondly recalling the '60s era history we somehow shared with Arlo, Alice.

''You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.''

RIP, Alice.

@The deacon I grew up in Berkshire County so I have been to the same places as you guys.
Arlo lived in the town of Washington, just up Rt. 8 from where I lived. He was married in his huge house on the side of a mountain. His marriage ceremony was covered by National Geographic, if I am remembering correctly.

My wife and I just love the song "Alice's Restaurant". Always look forward to hearing it on the radio around the Thanksgiving holiday.
