I've seen quite a few comments in regards to players' reactions in regards to this (great, in my opinion) move. Since I am twitterless, can someone in the know provide some examples of player reactions (both positive and negative)? Perhaps this can shed some light as to the full reasoning for the decision to fire PPGDL outside of the obvious.

Too numerous to recount. Comments from former players such as Michael Smith and Darius Butler were telling.

My daughter goes to UConn. Told her the story (from the post above) about the players allegedly high-fiving each other when they heard the news. She told me that some players in another class were chanting "We are free! We are free!" I laughed out loud because as a fan (and UConn grad/season ticket holder) that's how I felt.

I'm torn on the euphoria but the players need to get refocused again REAL quick. . . .Warde needs to get 'em back in a room again. Hopefully with no P around it will have a little more impact than the January talk.

Luckily we have a bye week to get everything back in order and refocus. I know how psyched I am for the announcement, and I imagine it's easily x100 for the players so it's nice that they'll be able to calm down before their next game. It'll be interesting to see what Weist can do. Is it too early to predict 8-4 for the year?

UConn WR Geremy Davis: "(PP) is a great guy, a great coach. Something had to change. Unfortunately, it was a man losing his job."

Am I reading too much into the fact that he only talks about PP and doesn't mention GDL?

Those guys said exactly what they should have said. Good to see that they are classy. Whatever they say in the locker room, or among themselves, the word should go out that any public statements need to be along those lines. P wasn't the one who quit on Saturday.

UConn CB Byron Jones said it was nice to have Pasqualoni talk to the team "on a personal level" before leaving campus.

Jones said he was "shocked" that a move was made in the middle of the season.

Good to see some players being classy. If there really was football players high fiving in class over the news, or chanting "we are free!", that is really disappointing. Talking to your teammates frankly in the locker room is one thing, doing what they allegedly did was bush league. Have to show a little maturity.

I mean emotions are real. If that is how the players felt, that is how they felt, but like stated above a lot of guys need to look in mirror, and assess if they gave optimum effort for their brother beside them on Saturday. P paid for it with his job and his performance indicated he needed to go. A few of these players need to have their butts glued to the bench and let younger players play if that is the best they can give.

Everyone needs to look in the mirror. Coach P got fired because the game passed him by. That does not excuse the performance of the players. For anyone who watched the second half of the Buffalo game, it was evident which players were giving 100 % and those who were going through the motions. Instead of high fiving and starting chants (I honestly have a hard time believing this. I am embarrassed for the players if they did something so juvenile), players need to get to work.

The players were tormented for two and a half seasons. It's evident by the responses post P's firing and what I've read the past year on social media from past players. He HAD to go.
