of all the inexact nonsense about sports, this is right up there. It is helpful in listing generally the best players by class, but really, moving them up and down weekly (relative to competition; relative to how much time they played?) is completely useless, IMO.

wow. then I give up, unless she went from completely unbelievable to merely #1?
According to the FAQ that comes with the ranking info, the numbers (+/-) after a players name IS SUPPOSED TO BE how they moved from the previous week... but clearly a bad case of editing in this week's result. Aja moved from 2 to 1, and Kelsey moved from 4 to 2.

Totally agree. So reactionary. A prime example is Anna Wilson from Stanford. She has had exactly 1 good game so far a year plus into her career, but rockets up the list based on that game.

Looking at the box score, Ruthy Hebard didn't play for Oregon tonight. She was #1 on the list for sophs, but if she doesn't play this week does that mean she's off the list altogether? No worries for the Ducks though, her replacement Oti Gildon had 20 points and 12 boards. So she should go from unranked to top 10 for Juniors, right?

Again, IT IS A WEEKLY REVIEW. Not based on the full season. So yes, it is totally possible for someone to not appear on the list that is an exceptional player (ie Katie Lou) who does not play.

I think it's great that someone is pointing out the best performances of the week, and it gives you some names to focus on as the season progresses.

exactly what criteria are they using to determine who had the best game? That's kind of a subjective exercise that often belies statistics alone......................

No more bias than the opinion of anyone that decides the watch lists for Naismith or Wade; look at all the names that were missing from the WBCA list.
