Do they chose an mvp for the first two round sites?

Does the boneyard have a consensus?

I think my vote would go to Z.

First 2 Rounds

Lou
26 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists, 0 steals, 1 blk, 10-16 FG

Z
40 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, o steals, 3 blocks, 16-21 FG

Kia
28 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 0 steals, 1 block, 11-18 FG

Gabby
22 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 9-10 FG

Pheesa
48 points, 13 rebounds, 14 assists (saw where one of the reporters said they mistakenly gave 1 of her assists to Gabby), 3 blocks, 6 steals, 20-24 FG

I think it's clear the MVP was Pheesa. I'm with some of you guys. She simply doesn't get enough credit. Quietly has turned into one of our best passers this season. Will end top 5 in scoring & rebounds. Barring injury, will have over 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 assists, & 200 blocks/steals. This is ELITE company I bet. Only Lobo, Maya, Charles & Stewie are apart of the 2000 point, 1000 rebound club (Maya only 1 in 3k/1k club). Comparison is Tim Duncan IMO.

Thank you for doing this! As I read down from one player to the next I grew increasingly surprised at how well everyone had played, statistically.

But then when you got to Pheesa, I had to laugh. For all the obvious reasons.

Thanks for putting this together. I find it amazing so many people seem to overlook her sometimes and don't give her credit for how incredibly good she is.

This weekend she was even better-looked fantastic and to me the best player on the floor. Remember Sat she only played 17 minutes too!

Hope we see a lot more of this from her the next couple weeks.

Not only was Pheesa the MVP, but she was the one player that UConn really needed to reestablish. Actually, the last 1/3 of the season, she was pretty much getting back to last year's astonishing performance. But 20-24 shooting? That's unreal against any competition. As Geno might say: that's better than what she does in lay-up drills.

Offensively Phessa has been stellar. But defensively as well she's been all over the floor. Wonderwoman.

My vote is for Napheesa -- not only did she have the stats bballfan outlined above, I think she had at least ten points in the first quarter of each game -- not a big deal in the St Francis game (although I think she had ten of UConn's first 15), but considerably more challenging against the Bobcats.

I will probably go with Pheesa, not because of the points necessarily but the overall play and looking much like the AA she was last year. What is also impressive is that she led this group in assists and that Lou lead the team in rebounds.

Phees is a cold blooded killer! I'd add Kia next.. Just rewatched game , and Kia was absolutely everywhere. Playing great defense, driving and kicking , and working her way open for 3's and hitting them.

Very well said, I see it exactly this way, too.

Napheesa certainly has the stats to merit such acknowledgement. Not saying Kia deserves the spotlight here but I do think some BY'ers still tend to overlook or simply dismiss the importance of the defensive pressure she has consistently put on an opponent, usually an opponent's best player, all year long. Defense is rarely much of a consideration when polls such as this one are taken. I think next year, if a game happens to be on the line because the other team's best shooter is draining 3's, the light bulb will finally go on for some. And it's not just Kia; Gabby will be sorely missed on the defensive end as well. I look forward to seeing who steps up to take their places at the same level of play. Funny, but as a 4-year starter Kia performed in the shadow of Stewie, MoJeff, and Tuck in her first two years (all All-Americans), and has often performed in the shadow of Lou, Gabby, and Pheesa (all All-Americans) the last two years. Yet she has been the single constant.
