Efficiency is calculated this way:

good = points + assists + blocks + steals + Rebounds
baad = turnOvers + personalFouls + (missed field goals) + (missed free throws)

Efficiency is the difference between good and baad.

Extrapolate to 40: efficiency divided by minutes played multiplied by 40

As everyone would agree, efficiency is just another way to look at productivity. It becomes grossly unfair to a player like Muhl (for example) where she is the heartbeat of the defense and a terrific point guard...but doesn't get on the scoreboard as much.

Agree with your assessment here. Also as hard as I am on Olivia for not going right up with the ball down low and getting fouled. She has the same affect on defense when she has position quite often players will change their mind to avoid the lunch. A lot goes on that they do not have stats for.
