A top 3 opponent of ND's stature for a night game is going to be an awesome environment next weekend

For about 15 minutes before we get our doors blown off

I might actually root for BC to win that game. That would be something.

My favorite part of the story - each player was recognized by at least one, including Mitchell who recognized Street from a class they took together on vampires. Nothing like providing athletes with an appropriate academic background on which they can rely later in life.

i took a class about the wu-tang clan that had sio moore in it. i'm not an athlete but it was a really cool class and i learned a lot. seemed like he did too. just cause it's a class that doesn't seem like it can teach anything worthwhile doesn't mean it's a joke class.

Learned a lot about what? This is a serious question. Not poking at you.

as you get older, you will see you can actually learn something from jokes and jokesters - nothing that will help pay the bills or further your career, but they are cool, nonetheless.

Oh, it is a joke of a class. I think UNC may or may not have had the same class.

Some of these classes sound bogus, but you never know...If they are in say the English Dept, it might be just a focus for learning to write interpretive papers for example.

BC has to right the ship. ND will fill Alumni, but if it's simply to watch BC get smacked year in and year out it will get old and Alumni will have more ND than BC supporters. Kind of like Conte when UCONN used to run over BC for about a decade.

hip hop culture, black history, etc. it was really interesting for me because i've taken mostly all science classes, so it was nice to have a different perspective being taught.

it wasn't a joke of a class. there was a good bit of outside reading involved, there were presentations that everyone had to do, 2 exams, and a paper. get some facts and come back and see me.

Actually they have not been arrested. They have been sent a summons to appear in court on Jan 9th. Gotta love the charged but not arrested crap.

Also nice that the court date is after the bowl games. Must be a lot of crime in Pittsburg.

Would be more than Pitt appears to be doing (well, untill at least after ND game):

McMurphyESPN 11:55am via UberSocial for BlackBerry
Pitt statement: (Street, Graham, Pitts)will remain active members of our program while we gain more clarity on this situation”

Edited w/ Statement from Pitt: "The University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department was recently made aware of a police report relating to an incident allegedly involving three of our football student-athletes on October 21. Those individuals have denied any involvement with the situation and have offered to speak with authorities, although to date they have not been questioned or received any court documents. We take matters of player discipline very seriously and will continue to cooperate with any investigation. However, we will not, and hope others will not, rush to judgment on these misdemeanor allegations. All three players will remain active members of our program while we gain more clarity on this situation."

What a joke. A class on Wu Tang Clan?

Do parents realize they are paying$20, $30,000 a year and up for their kids to take classes that will do absolutely nothing for them in life? You're gonna sit down at a job interview and explain what a "word tranquilizer" is? Or how rapping about blue and cream wallabees gave you insight on black history? Wu Tang Clan is to black history, what Kid Rock is the automotive industry.

No way I'm paying for my kids to take nonsense like that. And if it matters, it shouldn't, I'm a big fan of theirs and one of the few people who can actualy decipher what the hell Ghostface and Raekwon are sayin. GZA is probably the most underrated rapper of all time, and RZA is a creative genius. But seriously, this is not what people should be paying college tuition for. It's a joke. And that there are students out there arguing that higher education should be free?!! That's insulting

That said.

If these are some of the classes that are going to be offered, then the graduation requirements should be scaled back. The school is just trying to keep kids on campus longer just to take this so it can collect an extra two thousand dollars per head.

What's worse is the federal subsidies for this crap get larger and larger each year, allowing the schools to charge more and more to offer fluff, rather than scaling back and cutting the fat.

A bachelor's degree will cost $250,000 in a few short years (it already does now at some schools), but it will take decades to pay that back. Sooner or later students need to ask themselves if it's really worth it.
