I had an uberfantastic orgasmic time at the game :) Many thanks for all the great advice. It was really fantastic seeing the team in person.

Am too tired/sleepy to write anything, but here are the pics that the boytoy took from the game.

I really like the huddle pics (the expressions on some of the players' faces!)

Thanks again everyone. Have a great night!

I like the "effective technique" demonstrated by Rogowski setting this screen. Tough to get around that. ;)

Bravo! Like these better thgan the usual shot from the school and press. More of them and you get a better feel of the game. Thanks!

Great pics!. I guess a $1,500 camera really does take better pics than an iPhone. :)

Great pics! On the huddle shots - I am always impressed by how focused everyone (players and coaches) is in the Uconn huddles. If you watch other team's huddles, you often see the bench players or one of the assistants checking out the crowd or otherwise focused.

I was thinking the same thing. I have rather enjoyed a UConn WBB game in my day, but wouldn't describe it that positively. I must not be doing it right. :)
The Boneyard is here to help you. :)

I liked seeing CD's intensity on the bench. I have often wished I could hear some of the talk when a player comes to the bench, and gets advice.

I finally have time to sit down and write my thoughts (purely plebian/layman) from the game
(after the adrenaline of the Patriots last second win, the
frustration with Serena, and the pleasure of ND mauling the Orange--toss in some work as well).

1. Many many many thanks to all of the wonderful advice and kind words
from the BY! It really helped to make the experience "uberfantastic
orgasmic."

2. McGrath Arena was a thoroughly enjoyable venue and the atmosphere
was very energetic (even though I'm pretty sure the cheerleaders were
screaming "Defense Defense" when Depaul had possession at one point.
While one side was dominated by Depaul blue, there definitely were
many UConn fans, including some guys in my section who were cheering
at least as loudly as I. I can get very very loud!

3. I was only a few rows behind the UConn team and was very impressed
with the attention and camaraderie resonating from the bench. In
particular I really enjoyed the interactions (and some joking) between
the players and the assistant coaches.

4. It is quite incredible seeing how precise and smooth the UConn
offense and defense seem to flow. It seemed as if it were
well-choreographed and then performed.

5. On the other hand, it also seemed clear that the second string did
not flow as well. They just did not seem to as clear on where the players should be and what to do with the ball. For example, Michala is one of my favorite players, as she is from IL but it often seemed as if she was not as confident/certain where she was supposed to be. Even Brianna who I thought played very well seemed slightly confused at times.

6. The communication between the players was unexpected. Tiffany, for example, seemed to yell many commands to other players and I noticed what seemed like signals being used.

7. I really enjoyed watching Kiah. She seems soooo athletic! More importantly, I could hear her calling for the ball several times. She was not demanding/aggressive when she called for the ball, but it was nice to hear nonetheless that she was seeking position and asking for the ball. Her movement is fantastic.

8. Michala is also very athletic. I feel as if she could be so great. I noticed several times that she was one of the fastest players getting up and down the court.

Regarding the "uberfantastic orgasmic" sensation, it's quite simple: defer that climatic moment of pleasure :p

I spent over two years savoring the Boneyard's love and knowledge of the UConn teams before seeing them personally!

There we go- I'm fortunate enough to live 25 minutes from both of UConn's home venues. So I enjoy going to games quite a bit, but I fail to reap the benefits of delayed gratification!

C'est la vie. I might have the same heightened enjoyment finally going to Rick Bayless's restaurant in Chi-town.

Unless you absolutely love Mexican or Bayless, for the money, I think there are vastly superior restaurants.

Topolobampo is not even my favorite refined Mexican restaurant in Chicago; I prefer Mexique (which is fusiony).

Not a fan of his more casual options either.

I am a huge fan of Mexican, and Rick impressed me a lot as a chef and dude on Top Chef Masters. His brother Skip is an insufferable ass- I thought someone was making a joke the first time I heard they were related.

But I shall take your recommendation under advisement. :)

Are you serious? Skip Bayless--the sexist jerk ESPN commentator? Wow; I can't imagine Rick being remotely connected to him, let alone be his brother.

Well, my actual recommendation would be Alinea in Chicago. If you have not tried it, it is an epicurean adventure. I absolutely love the food (unlike Moto, where the experimentation comes at the expense of taste), but even if you don't completely love the food, it is worth the experience!
