UConn Basketball Fans Taking Advantage of New Pick Your Own Seats Feature

"We were happy to introduce this attractive customer service feature this year," UConn director of athletics David Benedict said. "In today's retail landscape, consumers want to know exactly what they are purchasing and our fans have reacted very positively to this enhancement. With our strong men's and women's schedules, we hope more Husky fans will go online, pick their own seats and make plans to join us in Gampel Pavilion and the XL Center."

OK - I have to ask - what happened before????

Having had 2 sports of season tix at RU before we moved, and 4 sports here at UA - we picked our seats from the "available" in almost all cases. To be sure, in several cases the selection was extremely limited (football in the area we wanted, softball in general) but for each sport we were able to request the section, be told the available tickets for our giving level, and choose the ones we wanted. For example, we have aisle seats in all our sports (although we indulged this year and have court seats for WBB, so technically not aisle.).

Well, "before" you sent in your money and with luck (if you didn't have a ton of points from donations) you might get pretty decent seats in the lower bowl, but towards the areas around the baskets. If you had your seats for a while, you could request the same seats again.

Now, with the pick thru VR experience (and with the help, if you want it, of your concierge), you might get a bit luckier. We did. Moved over a section with better view of the second half home basket and the UC bench. Methinks we got a better pick date, and thus better seats, because you might have been assigned your selection time by how long you had been a season tix holder.
