With the large roster and having had surgery of some kind should Piath be redshirted? If she was a redshirt could she practice with the team and travel with the team or is this a moot point?

Whether to redshirt is a decision the player and coach would talk about (ideally), weighting the pros and cons as the player sees it and as the coach sees it. In ordinary times I'd think redshirting Paith might make sense; with the extra year of eligibility, being on the active roster, even with limited playing time, makes sense too.

Doesn't really make sense for her unless she is not physically able to start fall practice. With a possible 5th yr and the fact that at this point the roster is going to be crowded in the following years as well, not sure what the rational would be.

Medical Redshirting is requested by Universities on the behalf of the athlete to regain a year of eligibility after the year is out. With the CoViD19 eligibility, it will probably not be a thing for the next three years, and by then it might change anyway, now that there is one free transfer, and then they could transfer again as a grad transfer and still be able to play again right away....

Redshirting is a thing of the past. No one does it any more.
Jeff Walz redshirted 2 players during the 2019-20 season, including 5-star guard Nyah Green. Green played 5 games for the Cardinals this past season, subsequently entered the transfer portal and found a new home at Duke, where she will still have 4 years of eligibility.
