Phx Signs Andrea Riley- DT out Longer

I don't see where DT will be "out longer than expected". Looks to me like the Riley signing is more related to the fact that Phoenix has lost Taylor for the season and was down to 10 players before Riley was signed.

Was the Riley/Johnson trade an even trade? Johnson seems to be a much better PG than Riley.

This is the ONLY reason the signing was allowed by the WNBA. It is under the "hardship" rule.

When one team is either:
1. down to 8 players for any reason a player can be signed
2. down to only 9 healthy long-term (4 or more games) a player can be signed until the team is back to 10 healthy players. [i.e. - Phoenix: Taylor (out for season - ACL - still counts as one of 11 b/c they didn't want to waive her therefore she is being paid for entire season despite not playing at all) and Taurasi (out indefinitely - hip flexor strain)]

A Riley: NOT my favorite person. Hope she has grown up a bit.....Hope Dee is mending.

Riley was one of my favorite players to watch while she was at OSU. Not so much playing in the WNBA.

Agree with Radylady, not a fan of Riley unless you don't ever want to get the ball.

I cannot recall seeing a bigger ball hog that Riley during her college days. I saw OSU lose to GA in the NCAA regionals here in Tempe a couple of years ago. The reason was largely because Riley, aided and abetted by her (IMHO) not very good coach, took virtually every shot at the end of the game and missed far more than she made. The funny thing was there was at least one other decent shooter on that team, and she was hot that night, but do you think they gave her the ball? Hell, no.

The GA coach, who may not have had as good a team, employed a strategy of allowing multiple players to touch the ball, and GA won.

Riley scored a lot, but she was the epitome of the volume shooter.
