Phillip Nolan taking charges?

I don't recall him doing this a lot last season. I'm not sure I like him trying to draw so many charges (to me even 3 is too much), as he winds up on the floor on his back. Sure when they are called its okay but at his height I really want to see him swatting the ball, hard fouling or redirecting the shot.

Maybe we never had a Center at UConn so willing to draw charges in dook fashion, as it looks out of place in our unis. Does anyone see this becoming a type of 'habit' for Phil or I'm I concerned about nothing for the next 2 years?

I don't think Phil had many opportunities to take a charge last year. I don't mind him taking charges because I do not know if Brimah ever has

he's fouling a lot less doing that than trying to go for blocks...but yeah its weird seeing it and he'll need to change that... hopefully when he gets bigger and more time it'll change

I don't mind Phil trying to drawing a charge, I just wish he did so with hands vertical instead of down by the family jewels. With his hands up, he can at least contest the shot if the charge isn't called. With his hands down, it's an easy deuce or and-1 if the charge isn't called.

Oh crap like he cares what you think! He's the one who's un-protected nutsack gets shoved up towards his diaphragm and he has to sit out the next two or three games due to swelling

I think he is more likely to get the charge call with his hands down. If his hands are up, they usually call a block or say he fouled the shooter with his outstreched hands

I'd say it's already a habit, but I'm not gonna mind it until a couple and-1s result from it.

While it can hurt at times looking to take too many, I like the fact he is reading the play off his man and sliding in often to take these. Most are off his guy so that's a good sign that he's learning but now he has to figure out if it's best to take the charge of just go with hand in the face and box out…….
