Hats and shoes can have differing impacts on heights. For hats, while it might help a Charlie V, it would make Dr J look shorter. As for shoes, if you are wearing them as most people do, they can add and inch or so, but if you're holding them in your hand, the difference is negligible. Of course, if you wear them like a hat, you could gain close to half a foot.

I understand, this is heavy stuff and can be very confusing.
