I brought this upon myself by watching ESPiN in the first place, but I just finished watching College Gameday and was very interested in the comments leading up to the Clemson/Fruit Flies game. The Fruit Flies have as much of a chance, leading up to this game, to beat Clemson as we did to beat Michigan (read: NONE). The Fruit Flies also have every bit the same attendance issues that we have. Granted, they had a much better season that UCONN last year because of a NFL caliber QB and coach but both are no longer there. They were able to beat their cupcakes and we lost to ours (thanks PP/GDL!) but they lost to Penn State in a home game for PSU...in NYC, supposedly their "college team", and were wiped out by Northwestern the following week.
So, given the extreme disparity in talent, speed, strength, etc, why would anyone say that Clemson would have a very difficult time playing in the Carrier Dome today and that "atmosphere" when all we heard about leading up to the game against Michigan was how many Michigan fans were going to be in attendance (and there weren't any more than what WVU brought with them in their elite seasons)? I know this is ESPiN and their "opinions" are always biased and uneducated, but it's just frustrating to hear Sean McDonough lead in to our game on ABC with "Michigan will have plenty of support here at Rentschler Field" then have to listen to how great of a home-field advantage the Fruit Flies will have against Clemson. C'mon, at least pretend to know what you're talking about. If the Fruit Flies even come close to covering today, I will sing their fight song whenever the next time we play them in anything.
I digress.
