Will not coach another game - per the Penn State Board. So guy Jim Gardner reporting it via twitter Im glad the Board of Trustees did the right thing.

Had to be done. PSU's in full damage control mode and the groundswell of public outrage was too great. In the long run, if Paterno had finished the season, PSU would have regretted it for an even longer time.

Right move by Penn State, in my opinion. You fire the AD and the school president, there's no way you can let the football coach stick around for a few more months.

Paterno blew it this morning by not resigning today. His sons are giving him horrible advice.

Damn. I gave it 50/50 that they at least let him say goodbye Saturday during the last home game. Wonder if they were pissed at his statement telling them what to spend their time on. What a self serving statement to begin with. Don't mind me! I'll just go along as I always have!

Have to believe the first step of the healing process, is PSU showing that they are taking the allegations a lot more serious than "the program". Had to be done. Good for them.

This Trustee is earning his keep. These questions are rapid fire and he's walking a fine line between providing info and not breaching confidentiality.

100% the right move... would have been better without the charade of trying to let him ride out the season, but still, the right move. If he's as concerned about Penn State as he says he is (versus his legacy) then he has to agree that this is the best course of action.

Obviously, there is more known than what is public. Trustee " we had enough information to make the decision."

Wow, can you believe the adversarial tone of the reporters that are there? They are showing their Pa love there. "What would be the harm in letting him finish the season?" Seriously people?

press is going "nuts" over JP firing, basically asking over and over why not let hom have his dignity. Pretty hostile crowd.

If this is how impartial reporters act, State College is going to burn worse than LA after Rodney King

What about the dignity of all those kids? How can they not see that?
