He didn't do well as a head coach here but he gets good jobs because he knows football and is not a bad guy.

Actually I think most of us believe he retired while he was our coach here in Storrs.

His high water mark was the Donovan McNabb years. While he knows football, the level of effort required to compete in cfb outside of Xs and Os passed him by ages ago.

This but, there is always value in having someone with that technical knowledge and experience on the staff for quality control or speeding up the decision making process.

He didn’t develop talent and was not a good motivator. I believe he is a great defensive coach but we actually needed diaco at the time

For the love of God, Pasqualoni's worst characteristic was losing control of game time.
He absolutely seems competent game planning or breaking down film. Appears his rep of teaching players technique is still respected too. But I want him nowhere near any booth or headset during a game.

Since Spurrier, their full-time (as opposed to the interim coaches after changes) hires have been Ron Zook (mediocre record, for them), Urban Meyer (adored until he left, after which he was vilified as a quitter), Will Muschamp (vilified as a loser), Jim McElwain (adored until they found his record follows a predictable pattern of great starts and descent into mediocrity), and now Mullen (came in with a lot of hype due to his success when previously there as offensive coordinator).

Because of his vaunted strength with the offense, Mullen may be casting about to find some outside thinking to help his defense. He came in as the latest "savior" for Florida fans who think the two great years they had in the mid-2000's is their birthright. Their attendance is off and Mullen may be worried he's also on a shorter leash then most thought he'd have when he came in.

To be the answer to the fans' prayers all he has to do is win the SEC, but with Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Auburn in the league that may take more than PP.

Florida fans are correct that they should be an elite school. There is no reason that a school as good as Florida, located where they are, and with the money they have, not to be part of the national championship picture every year. I don't think they are unrealistic at all.

As far as Meyer...it wasn't just that he quit...he quit when the cupboard was bare and he knew he had screwed up a few recruiting classes with the wrong type of player. He left the program in a bad place.

I think Mullen is a great coach. Great leader. His gap so far has been recruiting. His teams at Florida have overachieved so far....he hasn't been able to out recruit Georgia or Alabama. Especially at quarterback. Which is odd...he is known to be a great quarterback coach, but he hasn't landed the big quarterback recruit.

If Mullen gets his Tebow....watch out. But even without, he will still be successful there.

Nick Williams might have been the second best playmaker in the history of the program after Caulley but we'll never know it because P/GDL couldn't get him the ball.

Look at the receiving crew during the P error, Nick Williams, Geremy Davis, Kashif Moore, and Ryan Griiffin, that could stack up with most teams in the country but "the cupboard was bare" and the opposing defense was slanting.

and P had Joe Moorhead gift wrapped to him and promptly demoted him..UGH.
