When you are paid to perform, no sense looking around the room with whom you can share blame.
It isn't the offensive coordinator's fault, it's the man that hired him.
It isn't the fans' fault, it's the coach that failed to excite them.
It isn't the players' fault, it's the coach who failed to lead them.
You are what your record says you are. It is unfortunate that Pasqualoni is not a bad guy. By all accounts he cares about his players, works hard, has been a good off-field ambassador for the university.
But with the stakes as high as they are, UConn cannot afford to absorb any more of Pasqualoni's imprint on the program. He was and is the wrong man at the wrong place at the wrong time. Manuel has got to be an idiot not to recognize this, and by all accounts just as Pasqualoni is not a bad guy, Manuel is no idiot.
