And IMO the most meaningful since it's the coaches voting and not a bunch of media. The only NPOY she didn’t win as a freshman because freshmen are not eligible for the Wade trophy. I am delighted Paige now has a full set of NPOY trophies….![]()

Okay, I'll start...Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart, DT, Sue...Rebecca?...Jen? I believe Maya and Stewie won it on multiple occasions—Maya 3x and Stewie 2x?OK fellow Boneyarders, without looking it up, name the other 6 UConn Huskies who have won the Wade Trophy at least once.
Also for extra credit, name the 2 Huskies that have won the Wade Trophy multiple times, and how many times each has won it.
NO CHEATING!!!!![]()
If you didn’t cheat, I am impressed. Jen is the one that usually trips people up.Okay, I'll start...Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart, DT, Sue...Rebecca?...Jen? I believe Maya and Stewie won it on multiple occasions—Maya 3x and Stewie 2x?
I didn't cheat, but I had the advantage of going down a Wade trophy rabbit hole the other day while trying to figure out why Paige hadn't won it in her freshman year. (She wasn't eligible, as you mentioned above.) If I hadn't been bingeing Wade trophy info earlier this week, I almost certainly would have guessed Tina instead of Jen.If you didn’t cheat, I am impressed. Paige didn’t win the Honda either in 2021, the oldest of the POY awards and one of the 6 currently recognized by the NCAA. Paige receiving the Wade rights a wrong in 2021. Seeing NaLyssa Smith as an official NCAA 2021 POY winner (Wade and Honda) still makes no sense. Smith was not one of the 6 players to receive a vote in 2021 for AP POY. How the Wade picked her is beyond me.The only NPOY she didn’t win as a freshman because freshmen are not eligible for the Wade trophy. I am delighted Paige now has a full set of NPOY trophies….![]()
FYI, the WBCA has changed the criteria so that freshmen are now eligible.I didn't cheat, but I had the advantage of going down a Wade trophy rabbit hole the other day while trying to figure out why Paige hadn't won it in her freshman year. At least the coaches have not lost their senses, particularly their eye ball test. They understand what it takes to win year in, year out, and understand the road to recover, retrain, and achieve after major injuries.
If that was true she would have won the NaismithOne big, really big, WOO-HOO from me...!!
She is without question, the very best in the game this season for WCBB...!
Posted in the WBCA all americans thread that Holdsclaw didn't win the Wade. 1998 was Pinichero and 1999 was Stephanie White. Both were great players and Penichero had a better WNBA career than Holdsclaw due to the circumstances but to think one of the GOATs left college with 3 NCs, every honor imaginable, but not a Wade trophy.Paige didn’t win the Honda either in 2021, the oldest of the POY awards and one of the 6 currently recognized by the NCAA. Guessing the Honda will also pick Paige this year, which would give her a career complete POY set.

Isn't the phrase "most outstanding" redundant?
Not necessarily. There can easily be a number of outstanding players from which to choose the "most" outstanding.Isn't the phrase "most outstanding" redundant?
It's like "added bonus," or "free gift," or "final outcome."
WBCA voting tends to be very pro-senior. Odyssey Sims over Stewie for the Wade in 2014 is a good example. Stewie won 4 of the POY awards that year and Chiney won the other one (Wooden).Coaches see what much of the media and fans don't!
How about Most Outstandingestly Playing Player of the Moment?!?Isn't the phrase "most outstanding" redundant?

Still have the Wooden award in addition to the Honda award, but moving on to the NC game is THE most important piece in front of the women tonight.WBCA voting tends to be very pro-senior. The Wade also has a long history of picking 1-off winners (though don’t think Paige will be one because Paige should also win the Honda this year). Since 1983, there have been at least 4 NCAA-recognized POY awards. From 1983-2024, the Wade had 11 1-off winners, many of which don’t hold up very well (e.g. Candice Wiggins over Candace Parker in 2008, Carol Ann Shudlick over Lisa Leslie in 1994).
By contrast, since the Naismith was awarded starting in 1983, it has only one 1-off winner (Lindsey Harding over Candace Parker in 2007). Since AP started in 1995, it has only one 1-off winner (Courtney Paris in 2007). Since USBWA started their POY awards in 1988, it has only one 1-off winner (Ivory Latta in 2006 over Seimone Augustus).
