Paige Bueckers and her U-19 team are tearing opponents up at the World Cup in Thailand. Through 3 games they are undefeated and winning by 30 points a game. Here are some stat highlights:

1. Paige leads the team with 19 assists and only 5 turnovers. That's an assist/turnover ratio of 3.8..!! ;)
2. Rhyne Howard (Kentucky) has 11 three-point baskets. The rest of the team has 9.
3. Hailey Van Lith is 2nd with 8 assists but has 11 turnovers. Also, 1-7 from three-point range.
4. USA free-throw shooting has been abysmal, only 62% (41-66). Opponents are at 74%.
5. Bueckers leads USA w/ 75 minutes played, is 4-8 from three range, is 2nd w/ 5 steals and is 4th in defensive rebounds w/ 11. :D
6. USA has 58 assists and 57 turnovers. But they have 70 more rebounds in just 3 games.
7. Queen Egbo (Baylor) has 11 fouls in just 43 minutes or 3.7 per game. But, she also has 32 points.
8. Overall, USA is shooting 43% from the field while opponents are hitting just 29%.

More basketball to play, but the best player for USA so far has her hand raised in the picture up top. :)

GO USA..!!

I pledge to be a worthy successor in the great UConn lineage of PG's
from Jenn Rizotti to Sue Bird to Renee Montgomery to Moriah Jefferson to Crystal Dangerfield. So help me Geno.

The thing that has been apparent is the size advantage. USA usually has the two biggest and tallest players on the court at any given time. The rebounding advantage in the 2nd halves must be huge.

More than size, the athleticism is the biggest physical advantage. Belebi for one is like a martian.

Belebi is worth the price of admission anytime you can see her play. I plan on going to see Stanford when they come to town to play the USC Torjans. :) I would think that anyone that follows wcbb would want to see her in person. It would not surprise me if there were a few hundred more fans than normal at this game.

Unfortunately the USC women’s team has never had a large following, even during their championship years in the early 80’s.

Belebi was always out of reach for UConn and Stanford bound given her academics. PAC-12 is going to be tough conference.
