Exactly. Diana joined, perhaps, the most talented team ever - and was just as unselfish (if not more so) as Paige. She was not going to play 40 minutes and she was not going to have the stats that Paige, Stewie, and Maya had. And yet she still carries the team to a final four when it mattered. Stewie and Maya happened to join teams with All Americans, and also happened to be the perfect fit for those teams. And for much of the season..although both were the most talented on the team, they were t considered the best player on the team. Paige is the best player on this team. No question. She also isn’t joining a team where she is the missing piece to a championship team. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes for her in the tournament. If she gets to the FF with this team, it’ll be hard to say she didn’t have the best freshman season. But this is why it’s hard to compare. The reason no one touches DT’s career is bc she carried a team that had no business being a final four team to a championship- twice. That’s something that Stewie never had the opportunity to do - but, Stewie won 4, though lacked the competition Maya and Diana had. Hard to compare careers. I’ll say this - there has never been a player - not at UConn or the WNBA, that I thought was more special than Taurasi. I don’t know what kind of career Paige will have, but she’s the first player I’ve seen that I thought had a shot at taking that title away from DT. (Just a shot - mind you). And that’s saying something .
