This conference is 5th in pay at $487K and 4th in Win% at .635. The 12 teams rank 4th in total wins with 4,112, let by Tara. As our good friend @MilfordHusky notes, Tara’s salary seems low for a women of such esteem and I agree, however all I could find out in the nether world was $700K estimate from 2016-17. WI suspect the estimate is only Base Salary but as Stanford is a Private school, information is limited.

We discussed quite a bit on the salary situation and how low it is especially given how good these teams are. Something will have to give…eventually. Here’s the data.

Having researched this data and parsed it, I think the PAC-12 collection of coaches is by far the best of the P5 and yet is by far the lowest paid of the P5. Here's the stats to cross reference by conference:

I agree something will give eventually but not necessarily salary raises. With budgets being slashed, you might see sports being dropped and other wbb coaching salaries cut. UCLA athletics lost almost 20 million last year. The salary being paid to Close is probably more than what they could afford. I think regardless of what is considered market value, schools will find it increasingly difficult to justify paying high six figure salaries to coaches in a single sport that loses millions of dollars.

Actually, I was referring to salaries not be raised and the model looking more like the PAC12 vs. SEC or the BigTen. Ironically, I happen to think Close's salary is in line with her performance and what she brings to the table for UCLA and PAC12. She's well below the mean for P65 coaches and in the 20% of P5 Coaches.

Salaries are definitely LOW compared to other P5 Conferences. What's worse for the Coaches is that the majority of them live in High Cost of Living States, plus most have State Income Taxes.
