I'll eat some crow. I didn't think Stanford would run the table, but they did. Congrats to them on a feat that hasn't been pulled off in quite a while.

The conference was a mess this year. Other than the Card, NOBODY ever established any consistency. Washington St. tied for 2nd?! I doubt anybody predicted that.

Although everyone loves Jayda Curry, and rightfully so, I think Rayah Marshall is the best freshman in the Pac and also the most promising.

Pac 12 Tourney seedings are set:

Oregon's win and second place is serendipitous. Oregon's record against all teams on their "side" of the bracket is 7-0.
On the Stanford side the Ducks went 4-6 against those teams.
Of course it is a tourney so things happen.

such a bummer Arz lost Reese, no doubt they woulda been the #2 seed. No excuses for Graves now to get to the final, if he doesn't he's a disappointment again.

Oregon is now as healthy as the team has been all year - assuming Scherr is back for the PAC 12 tournament next year. Believe that if the Ducks make it to the Championship Game, they will host.

Conference awards have been announced

POY: Jones, Stanford
DPOY: Brink, Stanford
FOY: Kneepkens, Utah
6th POY: Miller, Colorado
Most Improved: Jenkins, USC & Murekatete, WSU
COY: Vanderveer, Stanford

I was interested in how POY was going to be decided. I had thought Brink was going to win it, but Jones is equally as deserving. Seems they wanted to award both Brink and Jones, as seen with the POY and DPOY.

A bit shocked that Curry from CAL didn't win FOY. She seemed to be a lock for it but perhaps the coaches were looking at overall team record too.

A few musings. 4 of the 5 on the all Freshman team were not particularly highly regarded coming into the season. What do recruiting experts know anyway? Marshall was the exception. Part of that is that Stanford's Fr. didn't get a chance to play a whole lot, but I think the point still stands.

Stanford really stacked the all defensive team. Not that the 3 aren't very good defenders, but many Pac 12 teams hang their hats on stingy defense.

I'm really not seeing the Most Improved player being shared. Murekatate's output is a tiny incremental increase from last year, while Jenkins exploded this season. I think they got this one wrong.

POY is a real conundrum. There wasn't a player who was head and shoulders above everybody else like Ionescu or Plum going back several years (paging @Plebe , there's my reference for this week). Stanford ran away with the conference crown, so it makes sense for one of their players to win it. When she's on top of her game, Jones is phenomenal. But she is so inconsistent, I can't count how many times she's completely disappeared for a half, or even a whole game. I just don't know that she deserved this award, but I don't know who you would give it to instead?

Traditional metrics be damned--I'd give POY to Lexie Hull. She leads Stanford in total minutes played and minutes per game which makes me believe Tara sees her as the most valuable player on the team. I'll trust Tara on that one!

She's inefficient on offense tho. Cam had the best year statistically but I think the coaches see Haley as the toughest match-up because of her versatility.

Hence why I said "traditional metrics be damned." Good point about Jones's versatility though. If only she had an outside shot...

In these recent years I've been watching the Pac-12 tournament closely, I can't recall a time when the higher seed won all 4 of the opening-day games.

On a separate note, I just today realized that Utah's top two scorers are both freshmen (Johnson and Kneepkens). I had just assumed Maxwell was their top scorer.

Looks like there was plenty of drama today, but nothing that ended up with an upset.

Yeah, Maxwell faded as the year went on. Gylten didn't do much either. And Martin was really struggling, hasn't played in quite a while. Maybe she was never healthy at any point during the season. Good thing for the freshmen. And transfers.

I have to think that by holding serve against their lesser opponents today, Colorado and Utah have all but sealed their at-large bids for the NCAAT. This is a big deal for these two programs, which haven't made the tournament in many years (last time was 2013 for CU, 2011 for Utah).

Good Lord! Arizona/Colorado game is brutal. Both teams combined, scored 13 points in one quarter. 33-28 (Colorado)...fourth quarter. Wow

Wow! The last couple years haven't been as successful for her, but I wasn't really expecting this.

Well, congrats to her on a nice career. I won't miss the playing style of her ASU teams even slightly though.
I saw someone else on Twitter post this and thought it was just a wild rumour. We'll know for sure on Monday.

Arizona has nobody to blame but themselves for this loss to Colorado. Peanut Tuitele!! Not an offensive power house but she is tough on defense and just brought that energy for Colorado! Wow!! Great game, Colorado.
