A few musings. 4 of the 5 on the all Freshman team were not particularly highly regarded coming into the season. What do recruiting experts know anyway? Marshall was the exception. Part of that is that Stanford's Fr. didn't get a chance to play a whole lot, but I think the point still stands.
Stanford really stacked the all defensive team. Not that the 3 aren't very good defenders, but many Pac 12 teams hang their hats on stingy defense.
I'm really not seeing the Most Improved player being shared. Murekatate's output is a tiny incremental increase from last year, while Jenkins exploded this season. I think they got this one wrong.
POY is a real conundrum. There wasn't a player who was head and shoulders above everybody else like Ionescu or Plum going back several years (paging
@Plebe , there's my reference for this week). Stanford ran away with the conference crown, so it makes sense for one of their players to win it. When she's on top of her game, Jones is phenomenal. But she is so inconsistent, I can't count how many times she's completely disappeared for a half, or even a whole game. I just don't know that she deserved this award, but I don't know who you would give it to instead?
